The Angel of Responsibility

The Angel of Responsibility has been a recurring theme for me.  A few weeks ago when I first selected this angel card at random, I felt a heaviness as if I'd been remiss about something.  Then, I remembered another definition for responsibility:  the ability to respond.

My Course in Miracles card was a perfect companion with the Angel of Responsibility, also chosen at random at our Miracles meeting that day:

"Your holy mind establishes everything that happens to you.  Every response you make to everything you perceive is up to you, because your mind determines your perception of it."

I looked up the paragraph referenced in The Course. It too had responsibility

"Nothing beyond yourself can make you fearful or loving, because nothing is beyond you.  Time and eternity are both in your mind and will conflict until you perceive time solely as a means to regain eternity.  You cannot do this as long as you believe that anything happening to you is caused by factors outside yourself.  You must learn that time is solely at your disposal, and that nothing in the world can take this responsibility from you.  You can violate God's laws in your imagination, but you cannot escape from them.  They were established for your protection..." (A Course in Miracles, Chapter 10)

I can be slow on the uptake at times , so Responsibility came up in an amusing way a short time later.  Our cat, Angel, was laying down on top the new printer by my desk watching me work at the computer.  Somehow she hit the copy button.  The printer buzzed.  PING!  A picture of The Angel of Responsibility card popped out in the paper tray!

I had to laugh as I'd tried to scan the card for an angel blog several days ago but it didn't work.  I forgot about the Angel of Responsibility and had left her on the print screen. My little cat had turned out to be a real copy cat.

With the Angel of Responsibility out on my desk, I was thinking about being responsible for my upcoming trip to Virginia to move Mom to Florida.  The ability to respond...

There were obstacles after packing her apartment. Moving contracts not honored, terms changed. Confusion in delivery dates.  The whole move fell apart on Saturday when the truck showed up.  Instead of the contracted truck, it was a satellite truck, heading for Florida via New York, with different stipulations.

A move can be stressful at any age, but my 93-year old Mom made the best of it; her first move in 17 years.  We sent the truck away, hoping to get the issue resolved on Monday morning. The company claimed it was a dispatcher's error.

Sunday morning, we happened to catch a TV minister talk on Overcoming Anxiety. It was just the message we needed. He said, God doesn't want us living with anxiety.  Sometimes it is warranted, but it is not meant to be a daily way of life. Scriptures tells us time and again, to not be anxious.  A solution to anxiety, he said, is to surrender the problem to God, remembering in gratitude that God is Love, and we are made in His image and likeness. Love is the answer.

The key to problem solving, he went on,  is after expressing thankfulness for Who God is, and who we are, open our hands and give the problem to Him, whatever it is. And, let Him give you His peace in exchange for it. When this is done in earnest, a buffer of peace will enfold us that transcends human understanding.

So, Sunday night before going to bed at the guest quarters in her retirement community, I prayed for help with the move.  A peacefulness settled over me.  God was in control.  This was not His plan for us.   Our airline tickets had been cancelled at our expense, the apartment packed. Mom and I were both sharing a room with no idea when or how her furniture would arrive in Florida.  Parameters were narrow as an 18-wheeler couldn't make deliveries at her new retirement community.

On Monday, I knew action was needed.  The moving company didn't return my calls.  Before searching the yellow pages, I asked the Holy Spirit for help in finding the right mover.

I hit upon Sterling Van Lines.  Calling the number, the owner answered and listened to our problem.  He asked my Mom's name.

Mary Luckie, I  told him, laughing.

"Well, she may have not been lucky on Saturday, but the Lord is at work in her life."

"Amen," I laughed, feeling tons lighter.  He could have a truck pick up her stuff the following day and deliver it down to Florida the day after. He personally did an expedite. Mom's belongings arrived at her new apartment before she did.  Heavy snow hit up north, no telling when her things may have arrived via New York with the first mover.  The Angel of Responsibility had helped me to listen and then take action. I'm so thankful for all the spiritual support.

"Your holy mind establishes everything that happens to you.
Every response you make to everything you perceive is up to
you, because your mind determines your perception of it."

Taking Flight

Hi Sweet Angel friends,
I will be away until next week helping my Mom move to Florida. I'll be back Tuesday with more inspiration from the Angels. Meanwhile, I'm going to remember that God's pure intuition surrounds me in an atmosphere of Divine Love. His celestial messengers are constantly broadcasting inspiration, giving me the ideas I need to live a life of love and freedom and service. I am so thankful to each of you for being with me on this journey home.
Love and Joyful Blessings,
Karen

Slow Down for the Light

I took this photo of a photo on the wall at the Perfect Spot restaurant yesterday. Our friends were visiting from out of town and wanted to see the skydivers. When I snapped the picture, the flash reflected on the glass, creating an illusion that the skywalker is being chased by the light. I had a good laugh, thinking of the ego trying to outrace Spirit. The Light is always "underfoot". Thank goodness, we have been created foolproof, made in the image and likeness of our Creator.
Enjoy your day with the Angels and stop long enough to embrace the Light.
Blessings,
Karen

Are We There Yet?

This boat christened R WE THERE YET? was docked at Blue Springs. The name hit home, because my brothers and I would drive my Dad crazy whenever we were on a long road trip, by constantly asking that question.

This vessel brought a smile now, because I often wonder the same thing on this long spiritual quest called life.

I'm beginning to see that the answer is a choice to be made each moment. There always is when we stop and go within the deep waters of the soul. At no time is it not present. The Angels surround us in a sea of divine Love.

Enjoy your day and remember the journey is without distance to a place we never left. (A Course in Miracles)

Food for the Soul

A restaurant in Sanford caught my eye. Wouldn't it be wonderful to just order up a delicious platter of food for the soul to fortify us for the day? I'll take a large order of patience, with a side of acceptance and for dessert, a slice of forgiveness, with a double scoop of understanding and grace.
All kidding aside, one of the best foods for the soul is meditation. It helps to quiet the monkey-mind of the ego and go within where every answer is waiting to come to the light.

Meditation is a wonderful way to connect with your angels and to your higher Self. Enjoy your day with the Angels and remember to eat light.

Archangel Michael at the Threshhold

These are times of radical change, letting go of the old to embrace the new. It takes courage to move forward in a new direction, but help is a constant companion. I love the symbolism of this artistry...Archangel Michael stands guard at the threshhold of a new doorway. His protection and guidance are available to every seeker on the path. Sometimes he is called the Archangel of Change. When we find ourselves willing to be in the world as an agent for change, which of course begins with us, and spreads to others, it is Archangel Michael who wields his sword of blue flame, cutting away the fear and guilt, that often attempt to hold us back from new beginnings. He will serve as a guide and bring us to victory.

His name means "Who is like unto God." Any fears or reservations that are holding you back from your good, ask Archangel Michael for help and then watch what happens.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Peace be with you.

Coming Up for Air...

Manatee at Blue Springs

Sometimes we need to take a breather, to come up for air, and see things from a different perspective. To look our fears in the face and not let them have any power over us. By choosing to see things differently, it's often surprising to find the answer was there all the while, waiting for us to "look up". Angels are good at gently nudging to come up higher in our thoughts. When life gets hard and we feel alone and overwhelmed, take a breath, still your mind. Breathe and allow the presence of Divine Love to enfold you in gentle understanding.

Our ego would have us condemned, steeped in guilt, for wrong choices. But in truth there is no right or wrong, only lessons to be learned. Made in the image and likeness of God, our identity is one of perfection. Nothing we can do or say can improve on that perfection. Likewise, nothing we can do or say can lessen our worth. The goal is to awaken from a dream that we could be separated from the Love of God.

Today we give gratitude for knowing that God goes with us wherever we are. Where we are, God is.

Many blessings,

Karen

The Floral Apostles

Holy Week begins with palms and ends with lilies. Flowers are often apostles for me. On Saturday afternoon I saw a wonderful sign of the resurrection energy. This little flower caught my eye. It was blooming in a cement crack on the patio. Having pushed its way up into the sunlight of a new day, I was surprised to see it. A messenger for me that out of nothing suddenly comes something in the most hopeless situations. What is needed is just a little willingness... to keep pushing upward... and to leave the details to God. Although it may appear we are in a tight spot with no place to grow...don't give up hope. Everything necessary is already within us and at the right time we'll have a tremendous breakthrough.

The lotus was another floral messenger that day, teaching the same lesson. Although the water level at the lake had receded from the drought, there is enough to bloom in the muddy waters.
Both flowers were yellow, the color symbolizing faith.
The Zohar teaches, each flower has its angel, whispering, GROW! GROW! GROW!
Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Mary Magdalene and The Red Egg

(Wikipedia: Viktor Vasnetsov, 1899)

When growing up, our family often visited my grandparents on the farm at Easter time. I have fond memories of coloring eggs in Grandma's kitchen at her big round oak table. I wanted my eggs to turn out perfectly. Carefully lowering the plain white egg into a cup of color, I couldn't wait for the miracle. Recently, I was surprised to hear about a biblical testimony concerning Mary Magdalene and the tradition of coloring Easter eggs:

Mary was a woman of wealth and great status, and after Jesus' resurrection, she used her position to gain an invitation to a banquet given by Emperor Tiberius Caesar. Upon meeting him, she held a plain white egg, exclaiming, "Christ is risen!"

Caesar laughed, saying, Christ rising from the dead was as likely as the egg in her hand turning red. But before he could finish speaking, the egg had turned bright red.

"Christ is risen, for Jesus has burst forth from the tomb," she cried and then continued to proclaim the Gospel to the emperor's guests. The miracle of the egg turned many to Christ that day.

Some eastern Orthodox Christians end their Easter service by sharing bright red eggs and declaring, "Christ is risen."

The egg symbolizes new life. Christ bursting forth from the tomb. Angels are part of the resurrection story. They are part of our story as well, as we rise in consciousness like the Christ, shedding the ego's burial shrouds, we burst forth into our true Identity, as God's holy Child.

Happy Easter!

Joyful Blessings,

Karen

A Question of Timing...

(International exhibition of Skydivers)

Angel cloud wings

Timing is everything... not only up in the air...but on the ground. Last weekend here in DeLand, we hurried to see the international skydivers exhibition in action. They represented many countries from around the world, but when we arrived the first day, the event was over. All the participants were lounging around, resting on benches and in tents. The energy clearly said it was all over. There was no schedule so we went back home.

The next morning we were guided to get up early and drive over to the field. What excitement to watch 11 planes each carrying 20 divers make a formation high in the sky. A simultaneous jump forming several rings, it took patience and accuracy to get everyone positioned. The clouds often covered the view, but we kept our eyes looking upward. It was a beautiful morning and the clouds were like white angel wings holding the space.

Before long, we watched as the sky filled with a cluster of colorful dots, like confetti sprinkling down from the heavens. A celebration of life.

The event was a good metaphor for me. When nudged to do something, don't procrastinate like we did the first day. And sometimes we have to wait for the clouds to disburse before we see the big picture.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Blessings,

Karen

The New Dawn - December 2012

(photo from Wikipedia: small section of the glyphs)

Last year I came across a little pamphlet on guardian angels. One suggestion really appealed to me. Daily welcome the guardian angels of everyone in your city as well as the Guardian Angel overseeing the city. This request can open doors in which the angels can offer assistance as needed. Because we have free will, they do not interfere unless asked.

Since that time, every day I have welcomed the guardian angels of Deland. Yesterday evening a single engine plane crashed into the meat department at the Publix grocery store less than a mile away. The amazing thing is no one was killed; several were seriously injured, but the pilot and co-pilot survived.

I'm not saying that my prayers alone made a difference, but I believe collectively, we each can be a transformer for the love and light of God, by pausing during the day and giving thanks to our celestial friends.

Tonight we heard a lecture at Stetson University on the Mayans and especially the significance of December 21, 2012, as the end of a cycle of time known as the 13 B'aktun. The name for the new beginning is La Neuva Era, (The New Dawn). The lecturer, Gespar Pedro Gonzalez, is the only Mayan author out of more than 500 books written about this auspicious time, the ending of the 13th cycle of 144,00 days in the Mayan Long Count Calendar. His book, 13 B'aktun Mayan Visions of 2012 and Beyond, brings good news--that in spite of all the turmoil in the world-- it isn't too late for humanity to change.

Although no one knows for sure what this really means, I believe that we will be moving up in consciousness from a 3rd to a 4th and 5th dimensional frequency of living. With all the solar eruptions effecting our electromagnetic field, there is a consciousness quickening occurring globally, as well as internally. Part of this transformation, is staying in the now, and not reacting to what our physical senses are telling us, but going within.

This is an exciting time to be alive and to witness a quantum leap in consciousness.

Blessings,

Karen
