O Christmas Tree: An Angel Message

                                           (2012 Christmas Parade)

Sometimes holidays can be a little blue away from our loved ones. Our local newspaper, The Beacon, published a Christmas Songbook as an insert to the home subscribers.   Sitting down with the song book, I leafed through my childhood, belting out O Christmas Tree.   I hadn't known the others verses to that favorite carol.  I especially loved the last verse:

"O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, You speak of God, unchanging.

You tell us all to faithful be. And trust in God eternally.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, You speak of God unchanging."

I enjoyed singing carols to myself even though I'm not such a great singer.  I was feeling joyful.

Our little town of 26,000 generated the full blown Spirit of Christmas in a two-hour parade down Main Street. The parade began on Saturday evening. Elliot and I decided to walk to the Christmas Candle Light Concert at Lee Chapel as the main streets were blocked for the parade festivities.

As we were leaving our house, a parade float with the World (a gigantic balloon not fully inflated) rolled by.  Peace on earth..

Several blocks later, we laughed at the synchronicity.  The World Float was parked outside of Lee Chapel more fully inflated.  The world is getting ready to ascend, we laughed, going inside for the concert.

Sitting on the old chapel pews, a nostalgic feeling captured me. Built in the early 1900's, the beautiful historic building had a view of  stately trees that towered through the balcony windows at sunset.  Nearly 200 students in choirs, a chamber orchestra, brass ensemble, and pipe organ soon raised the roof with beautiful music.

As the audience stood to join in the carol, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, it seemed as though the heavenly choir was being low to join in the chorus.

After the joyful program, Elliot and I walked home in the night air filled with Christmas.   The annual Christmas parade was still in full swing as we walked by Santa and his sleigh full of elves.  The float of the World caught our eye once again, Joy to the World, and to you during this holy season.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and blessings,

Rae Karen
