Owl With a Vision: An Angel Message

I found myself trying to come up with a blog today.  While searching old files,  fresh inspiration winged its way into view outside my den window. To my delight, this wise old owl had perched on the garden trellis. His back was toward me, but when I zoomed in with the camera, his feathery brown head swiveled all the way round backwards.  Two large eyes stared at me intently.

An owl in the daytime I marveled.  These birds are nocturnal. His pose seemed important as he turned round to see me.  I thanked him for the message, and no sooner did he spread his wide wings and land on a high tree branch to survey the big picture.

I thought that his visit may be on living in the now. New ideas are coming to you in exciting ways, so why look back for inspiration.  Keep your eyes on the present front, in the now, and fly up higher. From a higher limb, you too will see from a better vantage.

Owl is the silent guide WHOoo teaches us to trust our own instincts and silent impressions. To see an owl is an indication that help and guidance are available, but we must act on it.

Enjoy your day with the Angels and follow the wisdom of your heart.

A Stone Heart: An Angel Message

It's not easy to hold a rock and click the camera, but I asked the angels for help.   Although the focus isn't perfect, the room's on an angle,  you get the picture. A heart naturally carved out of a rock!

Many years ago, I picked it up on the shore at Virginia Beach during a sunrise walk.  I had stuffed my pockets with little shells and pebbles along the way. It wasn't until I got home and was more fully awake that I noticed the hole was heartshaped.

The stone message was a gift from nature showing me how love can make a difference in the hardest cases. So don't ever give up.  Just keep on extending love.  Eventually it conquers all.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Don't Look Back: An Angel Message

Don't look back,
Don't you look back
Keep your eye on the steady track...
Don't look back.  Don't look back. Don't look back.
                           Elliot Chiprut
                           Sing That Country Music

This morning's meditation was pleasantly interrupted by the sound of a train whistle. The timing made me chuckle as I'd started to drift toward an old issue from the past. Hearing that whistle blow, reminded me, Don't look back!

The start of another year has a whole new set of tracks that lead onward toward new destinations.  As the locomotive surges full steam ahead, the old caboose at the end of the line, gives thanks for the memories that brought us to a new beginning.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Reflections of self: An Angel Message

The sun was hot and reflecting off the ocean.  I couldn't find my regular sunglasses, so I dashed into a souvenir shop across from the hotel at Daytona Beach.  They were great for the mini-vacation, but soon they were forgotten in a drawer at home.

Last weekend, I found them and put them on while sitting on the patio. As you can see, the lens are large and reflective.  "Where did you get those?" Elliot asked, with a grin, not liking the style.

"Watch what you say." I laughed.  "You don't see me, you see yourself in the reflection!"

It got me to thinking...What if my own thoughts were so easily reflected back to me when talking with others? I remembered a quote that dealt with that issue.

"Faults found in others are reflected first in self."
                                        -- Edgar Cayce

Elliot and I had fun bantering back and forth, making dramatic faces, as we took a turn being a mirror.  Those reflective wide lens sunglasses left an impression on me.

To confirm the message, my Yogi teabag the next morning made me laugh.

Recognize
that the other
person is you.

Turns out, the glare of my own reflection is what I need the most protection from when basking in my ego's limelight.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Just Wing It!: An Angel Exercise

I believe the angels inspired my friend with a joyful way to deal with customers in  her store.  Whenever she encountered a grumpy person rather than react, she imagined herself pasting big angel wings on that person's back.  Whenever  she remembered to wing it, there was an uplifting shift in their interaction.   "After all, it's hard to be upset when you're pasting on wings,"  she told me. "Some wings fall off and must be rehung." With a smile, she confessed, "It's much more difficult to paste angel wings on myself."

Our women's spiritual study group practiced seeing fluffy large wings on everyone for a week. What fun to imagine throngs of angel wings among us. A strange thing happened as I pictured myself with white wings while pasting feathery plumage on someone. I felt a little zssst like an angel buzz.  I found myself taking things more lightly that day when I winged it.

The Hungry Blue Jay: An Angel Message

Food is food when you're hungry no matter what species you may be.  I got a kick out of this young blue jay digging into a bowl of cat nuggets by the backdoor step. Jays are known to be fearless and easily adapt to whatever is necessary to survive.

When a blue jay appears it can signal a time of greater adaptability for you.  Resourcefulness is about to unfold. Ha! That's what our little visitor was teaching. Cat food is fine.  No need to fill up the bird feeder.  Since they don't migrate, they must look for opportunities to develop at their doorstep. Since the jay is fearless, this bird can also help to connect with the deepest mysteries of the earth and heaven. But we must stay focused and follow-through to feed our soul.

The blue jay also reminds us to finish what we've started before beginning something new. Don't leave your projects dangling, bring them to completion.

Interesting that when a blue jay appears, it may also reflect lessons in using your own power appropriately.  And a reminder not to allow yourself to be placed in a position in which power is misused against you.  The Golden Rule is the best practice.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Let There Be Light...An Angel Message

(Creation Collector Plate by Yiannis Koutsis)

I'm a bargain hunter at heart.  It's fun to browse through thrift shops and yard sales not knowing what treasures may turn up.  Yesterday after enjoying a slice of pizza, an angel message nudged, Stop by The Habitat for Humanity Thrift Shop.

I always ask the angels to show me what I need to see.   A cheerful yellow bumble bee teapot on the shelf was a winner. Bee is symbolic of enjoying the nectar of life.  This year I'm loving the color yellow.  Last year's challenges are gone, and sunshine is breaking through.

That's why the rising sun in this Creation plate was quite a find. The world appears unpopulated and tranquil in the first glow of God's Light. The raging waters have calmed to set the stage for all our human dramas to be played out under the providence of His Hands.  In Genesis 1, scripture tells us that everything God created was good, and that we were made in His image and likeness as spiritual beings, Children of Light.

This morning I took a new photo of the Creation plate to capture the sun's rays lighting up the picture through the window.  Yesterday's photo was good, but this one was even better.  Another reminder to rely on divine timing.  "Let there be light!" And light came into being.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Bromeliad: An Angel Message to Be Yourself

A blooming bromeliad in the garden this a.m.

After a night of heavy rain, and an overcast gray morning, this afternoon brought blue sky, sunshine, and a delightful bloom in the garden. A beautiful pink bromeliad! The color of divine love.  Unlike most budding flowers, this one blooms first inside a deep well.  Then it grows taller as its stem shoots out of the hidden cavity and into the light to be appreciated for its own inner beauty.   Bromeliad reminds us to  open up to our deeper nature, the self that is part of a grander whole.

Bromeliad also teaches that we are surrounded by all the support (love) we need.  This flower demonstrates the innate potential inside of us, our resourcefulness, and capacity to change, adapt and grow. The esoteric meaning of the bromeliad can help us to challenge many of the flawed views we hold about life and ourselves. Like the bromeliad cultivates and builds upon the potential that is within, we, too, must concentrate our efforts in that direction rather that working on a list of faults that we allow to limit us from being our true self.

Enjoy your day with the Angels, and celebrate your unique gift.

Love and blessings,

A Sunflower Messenger: An Angel Message

(Wild sunflower blooming on our street yesterday)

Yesterday the angel blog was on choosing happiness. Happiness is an inside job.

With that happy focus, the day unfolded with unexpected gifts.  The most surprising was a sunny wild sunflower camped by the road. At first glance I couldn't believe it.  A sunflower blooming in the winter was like a mirage, a perfect expression of happiness. I hurried home to get my camera to share the blessing with you.

Ted Andrews in his book, Nature-Speak, points out that a sunflower reflects a time of happiness and well-being as healing energy is strong. This flower always turns its face toward the sun, facing east at sunrise and west at sunset. I loved the reminder for me to keep my eyes on the light throughout the day.

The Sunflower

Lying here I'm a dry old seed.
Am I a flower--or am I a weed,
Buried in the dark of the earth,
I patiently wait for the hour of birth.
Over me has rolled a stone.
Leaving me cold and so alone.
And now it has broken me in two
Woe unto me, what can I do?

Joy, oh joy, I'm beginning to sprout!
Something is pushing me up and out
Higher and higher into the air--
I'm glad I'm alive and not down there.
My head grows heavy as time goes by,
Too heavy to hold, and I wonder why.
The sun strikes a window and I bow down.
Would you believe it, I'm wearing a crown!
A crown of gold! Oh, happiest hour!
For here I stand, a real sunflower!
What was it wakened me deep in the sod,
And raised me up?  Do you think it was God?

                    --Jeanne Crommelin

A sunflower also manifests opportunities which help us find our own "inner sun" and our own means of self-realization.  The message of this golden flower is to be alert to upcoming opportunities for happiness and well-being.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and blessings,

Rae Karen
