Happy Summer Solstice: An Angel Message

Wild buttercup greets the solstice with a golden blossom.

You may recall last month a wild buttercup plant sprang up in the stucco crack by our backdoor.  I've noticed that this rare beauty blossoms on special occasions. On Father's Day, her buttery petals opened wide.  So I shouldn't have been surprised by this special "wall flower" fully expressing herself early this morning in celebration of the Summer Solstice!

Archangel Uriel is the Regent of the Sun and is the most radiant of the Archangels. He takes charge of the summer season, and works with the spiritual energies in nature. Uriel means "Light of God",  often he is known as the tallest of the angels, with eyes so clear they can see across eternity. Working with Archangel Uriel can help to improve our own spiritual vision.  He helps us to trust in the Divine plan so that when things appear to be going wrong, we can know that ultimately it is for the highest good and greatest joy. He helps us to understand why things are the way they are.

Ted Andrews writes in Nature-Speak, that the summer solstice marks the high point of the "Year of the Soul." For a brief time, all four planes of life are aligned with the physical and a more direct flow of spiritual energy becomes available to us. This marks a time when separateness can yield to unity in any area of our lives.

Summer is also when the forces of nature reach the peak of their annual cycle. Transformation is the keynote of the season as it is easier to communicate with the angels and devas as we break out of old patterns.

It's a time of harmonizing the masculine and feminine polarities within ourselves to promote a greater expression, a high birth, the Mystic Marriage within. The linking of the male and female, the bridging of the pineal and the pituitary (crown and brow chakra) will open ourselves to a new realization of Who we truly are.

By understanding the natural rhythm of the seasons, we learn  that Autumn releases energy through purification in preparation. Winter releases the forces of love, the feminine energy.  Spring releases the force of will, the masculine power, and Summer releases the Power of Light. A time of Light Within, a time of powerful illumination, if we choose to focus our energies on spiritual matters. Archangel Uriel will help us understand our inner voice and interpret our dreams.  With his guidance we have the potential to fulfill our potential as creative spirits.

Solstice Buttercup!
I was reminded that Buttercup brings a message that with proper self-worth we can succeed in every environment. This flower has an energy to help awaken a new sense of self-worth.   Buttercup heralds a time of healing and understanding.  "This expressive flower reminds us to be more expressive ourselves." And, to remember that our words will have more power, especially for healing.  May we express the fullness of beauty and love within ourselves.

Happy Summer Solstice!  Welcome Archangel Uriel!

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

Heart Lake Postcard from France: An Angel Message

I celebrated receiving my 100th postcard with Postcrossing!  What began with a single postcard last November has delivered many loving smiles to my mailbox. This refreshing view of a heart shaped blue lake was sent by a random postcrosser in France.  I can see why it's her favorite hiking spot in the Pyrenees.  A reminder to make an oasis for love to enter into those arid, stony places.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

The Prayer of the Woods: An Angel Message

Yesterday afternoon, an angel nudge sent me on an impromptu search for postcards at the antique mall in town.  That's where I found this inspirational color tone vintage card, The Prayer of the Woods.  This verse is shown posted at the entrance of The Sarasota Jungle Gardens here in Florida.

The Ancient Portuguese have been using this prayer in Forest Reservations of Portugal for more than a thousand years.

THE PRAYER OF THE WOODS

"I am the heat of your hearth on the cold winter nights,
the friendly shade screening you from the summer sun,
and my fruits are refreshing draughts quenching your
thirst as you journey on.

"I am the beam that holds your house, the board of
your table, the bed on which you lie, and the timber
that builds your boat.

"I am the handle of your hoe, the doors of your homestead,
the wood of your cradle, and the shell of your coffin.

"I am the bread of kindness and the flower of beauty.
Ye who pass by, listen to my prayer: harm me not."

The prayer touched my heart as I've always had a great love for trees and their calming influence.  The lovely postcard is a reminder not to take for granted the many, many gifts the trees bring into our lives.

Enjoy your day with the Angels and follow your nudges.

Ahoy! Lubber: An Angel Message

I wondered if the playful angels were just having fun with me.  Yesterday morning's angel blog about flipping a struggling Florida lubber grasshopper, flat on its back at our doorstep, brought an unexpected turn of events.  In the afternoon, from my den window, I spotted something strange on the patio.

Was a lubber really in Gus' cat food bowl chomping down on nuggets?!

Amused, I grabbed my phone and hurried out to make sure my vision was correct.  I laughed.  Thankful another choice is on the hungry grasshopper's menu.  In that moment, I could see a balance in giving and receiving as I let nature take her course.  The timing was so amusing.  I took a pic as the satisfied lubber hurried away.

But it gets even stranger.

Later, in the den, while showing Elliot the above pics on my laptop, I was startled by a sudden leap off the beauty berry bush, a large lubber had landed on the screen, and was now looking in the window.  Eye to eye with nature can be overwhelming...

I wondered if he was the same lubber we gently flipped right side up  that morning.  Now, I was the one flipping out at the timing and Oneness of all Life.

Grasshoppers are all about taking leaps forward...  He stayed for a photo, and then left me in an expanded state of consciousness that seemed to go beyond time and space.  Life is stranger than fiction, as they say.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love or Fear: An Angel Message

This morning, to my surprise, a giant mustard colored lubber grasshopper was laid out on the backdoor stoop. His 3-inch torso and coloration made him hard to miss.   Flat his back, legs slowly kicking air, I looked down at his plight with mixed emotions. Nature seemed to be taking its course as he appeared to be on his way out.  His jeweled archaic looking family has been taking BIG bites out of my bromeliads.

The spring emergence of nymphs has been whittled down to an occasional sighting here and there. But even one of these large colorful flightless grasshoppers in the garden is conspicuous.  I'm thankful nature is holding everything in balance.

With compassion, and also feeling somewhat like a hypocrite, I passed by with a bowl of cat chow to feed Gus, our friendly stray.

Grasshopper synchronicity has been at play.  At sunset last evening, I spied an adult lubber in the living room "Butterfly" window.  This seems to be a favorite spot for nature messengers lately.  A tree frog, a green anole, and now a Florida lubber.

What was his message?

I watched his long legs slowly crawl around the outside window pane as if he were looking for a way in.

I took a picture with my phone, but it didn't turn out so great.

After our meditation this morning, I told Elliot about the struggling lubber on the back-step.  We went to take a look, wondering if he were still alive.

He was.  Long spindly arms and legs were kicking slowly in the air, but he was going nowhere, flat his back.  Compassion kicked in.  An angel thought came to me.  Why not gently flip him right side up?  Like a helpless turtle, perhaps the lone lubber just needed help getting back on his own feet.

I reached for the closest thing in the utility room.  An empty seed packet of Forget Me Nots.  Elliot spoke kind words about what he planned to do, and then turned the helpless fellow over.

To our surprise, it was that simple.

Once upright, he immediately became mobile.  We watched him lumber across the concrete slab, clumsily maneuver his way down the step, and disappear in nature.

I was thankful for the lesson.  There can be no real momentum unless our thinking is right side up.  We may go through the motions, but they are meaningless.

I felt lighter, as I recalled, Teach only love for that is what you are. (A Course in Miracles)

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

I Spy Something Green: An Angel Message

On long childhood road trips, my two brothers and I would pass the time playing a guessing game called I Spy.    Maybe you remember it?

The one spying would choose an object, naming only the color.  I spy something...blue.  The other players would quickly search for anything blue.  Is it the blue in the scarf?  Helpful clues like ... You're getting WARM. You're COLD... would indicate the range of the target.  Whoever guessed it would get to be the next spy.

Yesterday while sitting on the couch leaving a phone message for a girl friend (who had called earlier in search of a new home), I spied something bright green on the living room window ledge.

At first glance, the cute little anole appeared to be on the outside window ledge by the flowering lantana bush. Surprised by the timing, I mentioned the green lizard in my message to my house hunting friend.  Curious, I hung up to investigate.

A cute little green anole was inside the house...up on the window sill... by my writing desk. I had compassion for the little fellow.  Longingly, he stared out the window, spying nature in clear view, with no visible way of getting there.

Not wanting to frighten this fast moving lizard, silently, I collected myself, remembering that All Life is One Mind and moves in harmony.  God is All...so even this little anole's movements are ultimately powered by Infinite Intelligence.  If only I could meet him on that level of One consciousness.  Sounds strange, I know...but it's true.  (You may want to read Kinship With All Life by James Allen Boone. )

I softly talked to the frustrated lizard.   Soon you will be out there.

Elliot ran for a brown envelope.  And the little green anole stayed still on the window pane, looking at the great outdoors.  He was "WARM", so close to his goal.  Freedom.

The harmonic energy was holding as he listened to my words of encouragement.  Elliot returned ready to make a delivery, envelope in hand.

The chase was on...

A green streak dashed across the inner window ledge, leaped onto the fireplace screen, and scurried across the hardwood floor.  The last thing I wanted was for him to roam free in the house.

An angel idea had me grab a soft paper pamphlet from the table.  It was more friendly than the wooden ruler Elliot used as a guide.

Scooting the pamphlet after his long green tail, to my delight, he was heading for the porch door. Elliot quickly held the open envelope on the floor maneuvering it in front of the little lizard, with me bringing up the rear.

VOILA...within seconds, our little green messenger had captured his freedom.  Back to nature where he belonged.

Elliot and I smiled, happy to have been of service.

The green anole's deliberate visit brought an on-line search of the esoteric meaning. What a surprise to learn that when threatened, it will change color.  Bright green turns dark brown.   As such, it can teach you to change your look and behavior to suit the environment.  Also, the green anole can symbolize a forthcoming love or relationships.  And, also signifies the closeness to come about in a current relationship.

Green is the color of the heart chakra, a reminder that whatever we do, do it with love.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

No Complaining for 28 Days: An Angel Challenge

Years ago, an unusual challenge was presented when Elliot and I visited a new Unity church in northern Virginia.  The woman minister asked the audience to give up complaining for the next 28 days. We were to pay attention to the subtle annoyances that often creep in: The coffee, too hot.  The  service, too slow.  The traffic, too heavy.  Look what they're doing now!  Why me?

The day-by-day drill was to pay close attention to all the grievances that hold back your good.

No complaining about anything...

Rather than complaining, we were to try giving thanks for everything.  The good, the bad, and the indifferent.  If the coffee is too hot, be thankful you have coffee.  If the traffic is backed up, be thankful you have a car and a destination. The idea was to silently reverse every negative into a positive in your mind.

And, if we happen to grumble, it's back to Day 1 with 28 days to go.

Elliot and I decided to take the challenge.  It seemed doable until that very afternoon.  Our landlord stopped by the house with word that he would be selling the property.  We had two months notice to find a place to live.  Of all the times to commit to not complaining...  With only 60 days to locate a place, pack up the house, and move -- the timing was laughable.

No complaining...  We laughed.

It turned out to be great advice.  I can't say that I didn't go back to Day 1 more than once.  But a subtle habit of complaining was brought to light.  And I had more peace by coming from gratitude for all the good taken for granted right now.

As things turned out, synchronicity guided us on a whole new adventure, a move to Virginia Beach where we lived for the next eleven years.

An angel thought recently nudged, take a refresher course and practice the discipline for the next 28 days.  No complaining.  So here we go...

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

A Hawk Visitor at Lunch: An Angel Message

Earlier this week while eating lunch at home, I happened to catch sight of a large red-tailed hawk.  Hawks are one of the ways angels communicate with me. Maybe because my last name is often pronounced hawk, I have come to regard them as a powerful messenger.

This magnificent bird landed in our next door neighbor's yard. He perched on the linked fence, facing the street, observing his surroundings with a keen eye.  I grabbed my binoculars to admire his beautiful markings.  With his back to me, I watched from the dining room window.  What was the message?  Often I see hawks in flight, but rarely does one make such a deliberate appearance.   Watching the hawk on the fence, I suddenly got the personal message: Hawks for Lunch.

Satisfied that his mission was complete, he spread his wings, off to deliver another message.

In the mid 90's, with 20 years of government service, little did I know that a hawk at lunchtime would change the course of my life.  But it did... I let go of  everything familiar to begin a brand new chapter.  Guided to work on an angel production for television, it took Hawks for lunch, the amazing synchronicity to stretch beyond my intellect and follow a nudge into uncharted waters.  Something I never regretted.

Hawk awakens our higher vision so we can spread our wings and inspire others to do the same with their creative life's purpose.

There's a stirring in the ethers, a call to come up higher. With half of 2018 completed, it will be interesting to watch as events unfold.  Like hawk, we can circle above, and see things from a higher perspective before taking action. Or we can stay on the fence...  Either way, get ready an opportunity is heading your way.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

Hiding and Seeking Rocks: An Angel Message

Over the past month, a few treasure stones have crossed my path.  The first time it happened, I found this hand-painted oval rock.  It turned up near the curb at a pizza place in Lake Helen.  A cloudy day, it brought sunshine as I examined the colorful touches of creativity.  I wondered if it had fallen out of a child's pocket.  At home, I decided to tuck the egg shaped stone in the garden by the Iris Fairy in a patch of yet to bloom yellow iris transplants.

I'd like to think that perhaps the cheerful rock encouraged the iris flowers to bloom, as they soon did.

Turns out that iris is a wonderful flower that does brings encouragement and restores a sense of peace.  A new birth is at hand, so the egg shaped stone was more symbolic than I realized.

This week, while taking a break, my eyes wandered to the mulched area at the edge of the patio.  I caught sight of something new.  What joy to find a Love... fairy rock!  My artistic neighbor had painted and placed the special stone in our garden hoping it would be a mystery.

I turned it over and read the message:

If you've found this rock,
it's meant for you.
May it give a smile or two.
ForEver Angels

She's an elementary school teacher and her class has been painting rocks and hiding them for seekers.  To my surprise, the Orlando Sentinel newspaper today featured an article on the loving trend to bring a little happiness to those who happen to find a stone along the way.  Rock clubs are springing up... doing little things with great love.

This one's meant for you, too.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.
