A Higher Purpose at Work: Angel Message

You never know what "bird mail" will pop up on the "duck feed" each morning.  The cast performing at the lake is varied; each bird plays a purposeful role in reflecting my inner landscape.  The traits that need to be strengthened, or a hint on how to handle a troublesome situation.

This morning began with a rare stance of sunlit feathery wings opened wide to embrace the warmth of a new day.  A flock of turkey vultures had gathered in a peaceful prayer vigil.  I counted eleven in all.  With such a magnificent wing span, they can effortlessly soar for hours, but this group remained earthbound.  Vultures symbolize purification, death and rebirth, and new vision.    In ancient Egypt, the vulture was considered a mother symbol. So whenever I see one, I'm reminded of motherly unconditional love in the works, or the wings.

One red headed vulture flew up on an old oak and remained vigilant on a high branch watching over the lake. Turkey vultures have no real voice.  They can only hiss by forcing air out of their beaks.  Sometimes this can reflect a lesson for us to take action rather than just talking about taking action. Perform, don't just talk about performing.  Do it.

This message was a confirmation of something that occurred yesterday where an action was needed, and a perfect opportunity opened up in which to take it.

"When a vulture appears it brings a promise that suffering of the immediate is temporary and necessary for a higher purpose was at work, even if not understood at that time."

The best is yet to be. And, we are blessed to know that we are never alone...right in the middle of wherever we may find ourselves...  God has sent His angels to watch over us.  We are always in good company.  God company.

 Love and peace,

Rae Karen

Turkey Vulture - An Angel Message of Rebirth

Yesterday afternoon, passing by the lake on an ice-cream run, I couldn't help but notice an enormous pair of brown feathery wings draped on the towering water measurement rod.  Turkey vultures are one of the most misunderstood species, but I've noticed how they appear whenever an extra dose of unseen motherly help is needed.  They represent Purification--Death and Rebirth--and New Vision.  It's a time of endings and beginnings, and to trust the process is for your highest good. It is also a time of renewed health.

Turkey vulture is a bird of grace--it's scientific name, cathartes aura, means golden purifier.  The flock gathers on communal roosts at night, and at dawn in the early morning light, they open their wings wide to dry the dew.  This stance looks like they are honoring the rising sun.

Although homely when just standing, they soar the vast skies with grace, riding on air thermals for hours without flapping their wings. They don't have to expend a lot of energy to defy gravity.  They simply use what is available.

These birds have keen eyesight and a powerful sense of smell.  As such it will help to discern if something doesn't quite smell right in your life.  Although the vulture has no real voice, it can force air out of its beak to hiss.  To some, this teaches the lesson of acting rather than talking--performing rather than just talking about doing it.

The turkey vulture brings a promise that the suffering of the immediate is temporary and serves a higher purpose that is at work, even if not understood at this time.  It reflects that no matter how difficult the life conditions, rescue is imminent in your life regardless of how deep the troubled waters may appear.

The sky was full of rain clouds as I got out of the car and approached her.  As you can see, the turkey vulture turned around to face me, making sure her best side was captured on the tall water meter pole. After the photo op, she spread her wide wings and took to the skies...soaring effortlessly and free.

But ask the beasts, and they shall teach thee:
and the birds of the air, and they shall tell thee.
Speak to the earth, and it shall answer thee;
and the fishes of the sea shall tell.
                       (Job. 12:7)

I was thankful for the message.  This too shall pass...

Keep soaring on thoughts winged with God's Love to gracefully sustain you on high, knowing all is well, even if not fully understood in the moment. Angels are here with each of us to comfort, protect, and guide. No one is ever truly alone...and what a joyful blessing to cherish and retain.

 Love and peace,

Rae Karen

A Detour to the Market: Angel Message

Early this morning, on the way to the weekly farmer's market in town, nature gave Elliot and me a signal to slow down.  Rounding the bend on the lakeside road, a tall, stately all-white bird wading in the sunlit waters sent out a signal to stop and capture the moment.

Sitting on the picnic bench, soaking up a heavenly blend of sunshine and cool breeze, we were thankful for the detour.  The mirror of the trees on the calm lake reflected a harmony that blanketed the park.  Grace was in the air, so palpable you could almost reach out and touch the sanctity it offered.

That big elegant white bird, with its long yellow beak, turned out to be a Great Egret, wading on stilt-like black legs among the reeds, in search of small fish.

I happened to snap this pic as a turkey buzzard glided by for a landing.

And, this comical pose of a turkey vulture preening on the measurement stick, seemed to bring a message about how you're measuring up on some scale.  Curious, I looked up the symbolism in Animal-Speak.  Since the vulture has no real voice, it forces air out of its bill to hiss. This may reflect a lesson on acting rather than talking about performing.  This bird is also considered a sign of a new relationship between the volatile aspects of life and the fixed psychic energies and the cosmic forces.  It was a promise that the suffering of the immediate was temporary and necessary for a higher purpose was at work, even if not understood at the time.

Feeling refreshed and renewed, we went on to the market as planned, and returned home with some wonderful fresh vegetables, including asparagus. It's fun to allow the angels to guide, otherwise the ordinary fails to become extraordinary, and life can lose its flavor.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

A Turkey Vulture Comes to Call: An Angel Message

I hadn't planned to do a blog today.  But while sitting at my desk, a large bird swooped down, with a magnificent wingspan, and landed on the tree outside my window.  I mistook it for a hawk, but when zooming in on this gray day, I discovered a turkey vulture surveying our backyard.

He waited on the limb for quite awhile as I tried to get a good photo through the rain stained windowpane.  At one point, it could have been my imagination, but he crooked his neck and gave me an impatient look, like just do it.  His visitation was so deliberate, I knew it was a message from the Angels.
Curious, I looked up the symbolism of a turkey vulture in Animal-Speak

To my surprise, there were many pages, but here's what I gleaned.  Vultures are known for their keen eyesight, eight times sharper than humans.  They also have a powerful sense of smell. This bird has no voice.  It can force air out of its bill to hiss.  This may be lesson to some that rather than just talking about performing, Perform. Do it and quit talking about doing it.

In alchemy, the vulture brought a promise that the suffering of the immediate was temporary and necessary for a higher purpose was at work, even if not understood at the time.

The turkey vulture soars with grace and ease, it speaks of a coming time when you will be noticed more for what you do than for how you appear.  The turkey buzzard's scientific name, cathartes aura, means "golden purifier".  The keynote for a vulture"  Purification, Death and Rebirth, New Vision.

I was thankful for the reminder that a higher purpose is always at work whether we understand it or not at the time.  Thank you, Angels.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,
