Turkey Blessings: Angel Message

With all the sadness in the world today, I had a sudden boost of spirit this morning.   Returning home from the grocery store, what a surprise to find a flock of wild turkeys pecking around the front yard.  Seven.  The number of completion and perfection.

The timing of their visitation was amazing. Yesterday the turkeys crossed my mind, sadly thinking they were gone for good now that the back woods is under heavy construction.  But against all odds, the happy brood returned.  Big, beautiful, young feathered harbingers of thanksgiving and gratitude.   A sign that there is more going on than meets the physical eye, so keep the faith, and give thanks for everything.

I ran inside the house, grabbed my camera, and stood at the living room window to look out, so as not to frighten the skittish birds away.  LOL. One  turkey was especially close to the window, standing in a clay flower pot!  That was a first!  Maybe a signal to keep my feet planted in good soil and to keep growing toward the light to bloom.

The turkey, sometimes called the earth eagle, is a of symbol of all the blessings that the Earth contains, along with the ability to use them to their greatest advantage.  A wonderful reminder that we are here to be a blessing, and to give thanks for all the Unseen Heavenly Help, physically out of sight, but certainly not unnoticed.  The best is yet to be.

Peace and love,

Rae Karen

Happy New Year, 2023: An Angel Message

Just when I gave up on the thrill of ever seeing a wild turkey roam the yard again, a stately pair strolled by on New Year's Eve. A good omen of gratitude, thanksgiving, and sharing.  Pale blue faces and rich brown plumage were a welcomed sight.  With new housing on the rise, and the thinning forest, spring-time had been their last visit. I missed the flock's happy gobbles on the driveway.

I was thankful that an angel nudge had sent me to the window in time to catch them stroll by the garden gazing ball.  A childlike thrill stirred my heart. They were safe in spite of all the changes in their environment.  My old friend, Sadie Turkey Lady came to mind.  After all, it's not everyday a wild turkey or two crosses your path.

Turkey is a sign of a year of harvest. Turkey honors Mother Earth, and represents all of the blessings of Earth, and the ability to wisely use them to the greatest advantage. Turkey teaches a lesson on gratitude and thankfulness for all the good already here.

May all life live in peace and harmony this year.  Have a Happy 2023!  The best is yet to be.

Peace and joy and love,

The Love of Animals at Christmas Time: An Angel Message

This month I've decided to let nature show me what's behind the advent calendar door each day leading up to Christmas Eve.

Today this gentle pair of wild turkeys stopped by the yard to scratch around.  They have been making themselves scarce since Thanksgiving, so it was a happy sight in the advent calendar door.

Turkeys symbolize a gift of thanksgiving, abundance, and the great give-away.  A reminder that no matter what's happening-- our challenges, or those whom we love, have come as a gift to strengthen our faith and to grow in spirit. They come to pass, not to stay, and leave us in a higher state of consciousness if we let it.   It's always a thrill to see wild turkeys close to the house-- a time to reflect on the goodness already here and all the blessings to be grateful for, as well as those we can be for others.

Christ's  birth is closely associated with the animal kingdom.  Mary journeyed to Bethlehem on the back of a donkey.  The baby Jesus was born in a manger.  The wise men journeyed on camels to bring gifts to the Bethlehem babe.  Dogs watched over the shepherds' flocks by night when the angels brought glad tidings of great joy.

Our furry family members, with their warm unconditional love, add to the celebration of Christmas.  It is interesting to note that Saint Francis of Assisi (Patron Saint of Animals) is credited with creating the first nativity scene in 1223, a live one.

Listed below are some of the different animals included as part of the Christmas stories told through the years.

Bees - hummed a Christmas carol.

Beetle - became a glow worm and its light guided travelers.

Cat - appeared, but disdained to join the kneeling beasts and only mumbled in recognition. Amused at its independence, Mother Mary blessed it, saying that it would always live at man's hearth, but never be man's servant.

Camels -  represented religious traditions.

Cow - donated her fresh hay to Mary for the Baby's bed and warmed the Child with her breath.

Doves - cooed Jesus to sleep.

Nightingale - had never sung before that night, but the choir of angels roused it and the bird caroled with them.

Owl - did not rouse itself to join its fellow animals and was condemned to perpetual penance, hiding by day and by night, crying "Who will guide me to the new born? Who? Who?"

Robin - fanned the fire in the cave of Bethlehem and kept it burning throughout the night. Its red breast singed by the flames became its mark of generosity.

Rooster - crowed all night.

Sheep - gave Mary the wool to weave a soft blanket.

Stork - plucked its own feathers to soften the infant's bed and so remained the patron of babies ever after.

Let us remember the animal and plant kingdom in our prayers of gratitude today.  You may want to have the nature angels reveal an advent door for you each day.  If so pay special attention to any unusual encounters. What were you thinking/doing when it appeared?  Enjoy the inner wisdom that comes with the gift.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

The Law of Gratitude: An Angel Message

Something amusing confirmed my thinking earlier today.  Thoughts are things...they hold creative energy.  Maybe you've noticed lately how you may entertain a thought about something, and, the next thing you know, it has manifested in form.

That's what happened today.  I had just started to blog about The Law of Gratitude when my kitchen stove timer buzzed.  The timing was good because that's when I noticed two wild turkeys gobbling out on the lawn.  Angel messengers of GRATITUDE and THANKSGIVING. I smiled, grateful for the companion photo for the angel blog.

Another nature message appeared on the driveway.  Recent heavy rains had drenched a fallen leaf, leaving an outline of a rustic heart on the concrete.  Although the leaf was long gone, it had made a lasting impression.  Whatever you do, stay wholehearted in Love.  I was happy to see the whole heart in tact, and not divided by the crack in the cement.

I've been reading about how The Law of Gratitude holds creative power.  The more gratefully and wholeheartedly we fix our thoughts on the Supreme when good things come to us, the more good things we will be open to receive, and the more rapidly they will come.  The mental attitude of gratitude draws our mind into closer alignment with the Source from which all blessings come. In this way, the Law of Gratitude helps builds faith.  "Draw nigh unto God, and He will draw nigh unto you."

Faith is born of gratitude.  A grateful mind continually expects good, and expectation becomes faith.A reaction of gratitude upon one's own mind produces faith; and every outgoing wave of grateful thanksgiving increases faith.

The angels encourage us to cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes, and give thanks continuously.  You may want to make a gratitude list.

In closing, my gratitude scale was tested sorely.  The first blog when ready to be published, somehow got whisked away.  Nothing but a blank.  Anyway, I made the choice to be grateful to have the time, the energy, and the tools to do it again.

May you enjoy your day with the Angels of Gratitude and Thanksgiving.

Love and peace,

Rae Karen

Turkeys on Parade: An Angel Message

Yesterday morning, no sooner had I said something about expecting good things to come when a sudden treat from nature appeared. A welcome sign of thanksgiving and abundance.  The wild turkeys were back, (after a year) roaming the pasture.

What happened next, caught me by surprise.  Old Tom Turkey fluttered his wings and landed on the wooden fence post.

He jumped down onto the driveway, and his hens immediately followed his lead.

Soon the happy Thanksgiving messengers were on parade toward the sun-room.

There had been four in the pasture.  Where was the missing one?

My eyes traveled toward the fence.

There he was--strutting back in forth, in a panic!  Not sure how to get over the fence to follow the others.

We all have felt that way at certain times in life-- held back by unexpected barriers not of our own making.

I could feel the young turkey's distress.

Remembering an opening in the fence where the sandhill cranes come and go, I wondered if he could be shown that exit.  Since I was barefoot, and time was a factor, I asked Elliot to go out and talk to the turkey...maybe he could lead him to freedom somehow.

Elliot was puzzled what to do, as he went out the door, saying he'd ask the angels for help.  Walking slowly toward the pent-up turkey pacing by the fence, an idea came.

CLAP YOUR HANDS!

That loud NOISE did it!

Instantly the turkey flew over the fence!

Soon he was strutting freely across the yard to eagerly join his family.  In a moment of fear, he had done it.  He did it afraid, taking flight to freedom, perhaps for the very first time.

That's so true of human nature, too.  Often it may take a jolt to get us to bolt into the right direction, finding inner strengths, qualities, and possibilities that have long been dormant.   We take a leap of faith, and do it.

In her book, Animal Messengers, Regula Meyer writes:  The message of the turkey is to give yourself, unquestioningly and boundlessly.  Give yourself up, give in to life.  Immerse yourself to the fullest in your life's narrative.  Now is not the time to set boundaries and modify the events and relationships you live through, but to let them happen.  In external self-abandonment, discover internal self-development.

I'm so thankful for the lessons from the angels of nature. It makes life more meaningful and takes us to a deeper level of understanding.  The outer is always a reflection of the inner.

Love and peace,

Rae Karen

Seek and You Shall Find: An Angel Message

When a squirrel shows up, it usually has to do with balance.  Are we working too hard and not taking time to play?  Are we taking more than we are giving?  If so, find ways to gather and to gift. Be prepared is also the message the squirrel brings.

Most of this week, a little squirrel has been crossing my path.  Our bird feeder had been empty for several months so as not to tame the sandhill cranes.  Now that the family has moved on, yesterday I watched a hungry little squirrel scale the pole to the feeder hoping for a crumb. He left, empty-handed.

With compassion, the feeder was once again filled with yellow corn kernels and sunflower seeds.  But the full house had no activity until early this morning.

What fun to see that rascally squirrel share breakfast with a bright red cardinal.  There's a wonderful saying, "When a cardinal appears an angel is near."  Cardinals bring a message to add more color to our lives, and to remember that everything we do is important.
The topper of the morning came with the arrival of two young wild turkeys grazing in the pasture next door. A welcoming sign of abundance and thanksgiving. God loves you.

Enjoy your day with the Angels, and expect the wonderful things of God to come to you today.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

Wild Turkeys: An Angel Message

This roaming pair of wild turkeys crossed our path last evening.  We'd gone up the street to get a carry-out dinner and ended up taking a detour on the way home in hopes of seeing these magnificent birds.  Following the Angel message to drive by the wooded area paid off. There they were!

Turkey in the Native American custom represents the great give-away.  It can also symbolize a need for us to give ourselves away to life, not to hold back, but live it to the fullest, giving way to full expression of our emotions in order to become more authentic.

Turkey also brings a message that blessings and abundance are present now. Your efforts will soon be rewarded.  (If you're reading this now, the gifts apply to you.)

What messages have you been receiving from nature lately?  The closer we pay attention, the more demonstrative the communication. Our inner world is reflected by the outer.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen
