Nature Calling: An Angel Message

Ever felt an angel’s breath in the gentle breeze?

A teardrop in the falling rain?

Hear a whisper amongst the rustle of leaves?

Or been kissed by a lone snowflake?

Nature is an angel’s favorite hiding place.

          --Carrie Latet

Early Saturday morning, before the sun heated up, I was inspired to exercise a little creativity in the yard.  In no time, I had worked up a sweat, hauling concrete stepping stones for a new path to the birdbath.  In the shade of the tall palm trees, large empty clay pots were pushed in new directions, and filled with flowers in the little make-shift garden.

While re-potting the yellow buttercup plant, closer inspection revealed a longstanding problem!  Its tender green leafy branches were bound, round and round by an invasive, almost invisible, long thread of vine.

Buttercups are symbols of faith; a low-maintenance flower, hardy and eager to grow wherever planted in the garden.  But, even the most adaptable plant can't make progress or bloom if tied up by an overly aggressive tacky weed.

Eagerly snipping the inexhaustible supply of menacing thread, I personally recalled similar situations of my own.  How little negative thoughts or actions may appear to be harmless, at first...  But, when left unattended, they eventually take over and stifle the beauty of blossoming in spiritual growth.

"Meet the little interferers head-on, before they become overpowering" was the angel nature message. Weed out any negativity before it takes over and snarls any chance of success.

Perhaps this sudden urge to create anew in the garden has been inspired by the birds.  Cranes are majestic birds of creativity, and a loving sandhill crane couple has been stopping by to visit.

These tall stick-legged waders always bring joy.

Yesterday, the harmonious pair came by late in the afternoon. They made themselves at home, nestling down on the lawn to rest in the cool shade of the palms. A picture of serenity.  Curious, Hei-Hei, our tabby stretched out like a sphinx, peacefully watching the enormous birds from the sun-room window, with a dose of respectful curiosity.

Then, an ordinary moment became extraordinary.

During dinner, the glass-topped table by the sliding glass door, created a play of light.

Hei-Hei's reflection in the glass door somehow was superimposed on the body of one red-headed crane.

The two merged into one image in the glass.

Hei is the Hebrew alphabet letter H, and is symbolized by a window. And, Hei-Hei  could mean "double window".  Anyway, it was a remarkable instant of Oneness that brought a smile of gratitude for the kinship and unity of All in the Circle of Life.

Today, nature delivered another unexpected message.

A little tree-frog tapped at the bedroom window pane. Laughing, I got a picture, thanking him for the visit.  When the pic was uploaded, I noticed the dolphins-and-Earth stained glass panel.   Dolphins can open new creation and dimensions to a great degree.  The dolphin was a symbol of salvation to the early Christians.  When dolphin appears, it is time to breathe in some new life into yourself.  Get out in the fresh air, play, explore, and most of all breathe.

Checking and Pecking In, A Sandhill Angel Messenger

Something was up early Saturday evening.  While I was making dinner, Elliot called out, Come take a look! Dropping my potholder, I made a bee-line for the sunroom.

What I saw was a first, and had a touch of angelic influence as I'd been wanting a close-up pic of the sandhill crane family who frequent our yard.  And here it was.  Either Papa or Mama Crane had stepped into the flowerbed and was looking in the window.

That big sweet bird stayed for quite awhile, and to our amusement began gently pecking on the windowpane, perhaps hoping to get a better glimpse of us, too.  Angelic music was playing on the CD, so maybe the sandhill was picking up on the celestial vibrations, and  drumming along to the music.   Anyway it was one of those rare sweet moments of oneness.

The window visitor was so deliberate, I looked up the symbolism again.  Sandhills are high flyers and always announce their presence with loud calls. (So true, they have a unique guttural squawk!)   Because of this, they are often considered noble guardians, calling out loudly to forewarn.  If they are appearing in our life there is usually something that we should watch out for, and take care of more carefully.  When they appear, there is usually some hidden protection around us.  It is sometimes a sign that we may need to be the hidden protector of someone else.

I took it as a reminder that the Holy Spirit is ever present, and we are all always in the company of unseen loving angels, so just keep the prayers going, reaching out to share love and light.  To radiate love rather than absorb fear, since we can't do both simultaneously.  The choice is ours in any given moment.

Nature is a wonderful teacher, full of surprising touches.

Sandhills are also known for their enthusiastic mating dance—jumping up and down like two big bouncy  ballerinas, as they face each other, long feathery wings aflutter, tossing sticks in the air….so whenever they appear it is a sign to remember that life is a dance and to enjoy every step.

Something I need to remember just now…

God is in the details.  This message is for all of us.  The angels are our loving guardians, watching over and guiding us during this dark night of the soul.  It is in the darkness that we often discover that we are Light.

Love, peace and happiness,

Lake Restoration with Heavenly Help

This morning Elliot and I took an impromptu ride to a local farmer's market in nearby Lake Helen.  Afterwards, we stopped by our favorite spot, the lake in that town. We'd read some good news about it recently in the local paper.   Over the years, this is the place we would come and bring our chairs, eat lunch, read, and just enjoy the tranquility of the lake.   The herons, ibis, ducks, osprey, turkeys, fish, and occasional turtles added to the flavor of our outing.

Then in 2016 that all changed when invasive hydrilla clogged the waters, sapping the oxygen from the lake, killing fish, and making the lake unsafe for boating and swimming.

How sad that what once had been a serene spot in nature was now being choked off by fast-growing hydrilla. At that time, prayers were sent up to ask the angels for help in restoring the lake for all to enjoy.

Working with the angels brings results.  In the news last week, we read how a community action team got together and made things happen.  Money was funded to dredge the lake and volunteers worked weekend after weekend to manually cut out the invasive plants that were hauled off by a local paid trucker.   As we witnessed this morning, all their hard work had paid off.

Today it did my heart good to see the clear lake's moving waters reflect blue sky and white clouds like a mirror.   Happy families of ducks and sandhill cranes were hanging out with the peeps who were fishing in the beautiful lake.

We thanked all of the angels for helping to restore the lake and the team of caring people to answer the prayer.  Like I mentioned in yesterday's blog, I've been trying to silently acknowledge every one's guardian angel.  It takes practice to remember.

It was amusing on the way home, Elliot and I stopped for an Italian lunch.  Walking into Angelina's, the oldies song Earth Angel happened to be playing on the restaurant's sound system.  How perfect is that, we thought, again thanking the Earth Angels for their tireless dedication and service.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Sandhill Cranes: An Angel Message

While having breakfast on the porch this morning, there was a loud whooping sound from the street.  I looked out in time to see these two taking a stroll, stopping a car here and there.  Their raucous call interrupted a conversation about some of the pitfalls we'd joyfully overcome on our recent trip.  The cranes seemed to be reminding me to stay in the present; it's a new day.  Cranes are symbolic of longevity and creativity.  What are you creating in your world today? was their loud and clear message.  I had a good laugh and grabbed my camera, thankful for their visit.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and blessings,
