A sweet friend in Virginia shared a lovely photo she took while out on a nature walk. I've always loved purple irises and miss them here. In the past, when an iris appeared, it was my sign from God to keep on going I was on the right path.
In the Victorian language of flowers to receive an iris meant: I have a message for you.
I took a closer look at Deb's photo. An expansive view captured more than just the beautiful purple iris by the sunlit lake. I drank in the serene reflection of sailing white fluffy clouds across a celestial blue sky. The leafy green tree peered into the water to get a glimpse of itself. The beautiful iris had not just one, but two full purple blooms opened wide. Standing on the water's edge, among the tall green grasses, windswept ripples stirred the iris to sway in a gentle breeze. A peaceful picture of contentment, basking in a portal of light in a moment of eternity.
Later, I discovered the iris message in a symbology book. The keynote of the iris is to maintain hope; a sense of peace restored; new birth at hand. Purple has a high vibration and represents spirit.
Tucked inside the book I found an old article on gardening. It turned out to have the perfect message from the purple iris photo. An uplifting angel message for these shifting times we live in. And, to remember that God speaks to us in flowers.
