A heads-up angel message from nature for today. It started out with a new rhythm--bright and early when a woodpecker drummed like a pneumatic hammer on a sidewalk. We were talking about the state of the world and the need for peace when the drumming began. The woodpecker was unseen but definitely heard. A woodpecker is a sign that you now have a firm foundation to move forward in any direction, use discernment.
After breakfast, a cheerful "churr che cha" birdsong made me turn around to look out the sunroom window. A young red-bellied woodpecker was clinging to the oak outside the window. His red head moved back and forth pecking at the old tree. God has equipped this type of woodpecker with what it needs for sustenance.
A long tongue that can reach 2" past the tip of its beak. The barbed tip of its tongue has sticky spit to easily catch prey in the cracks of the tree trunk. (A message for me to watch my tongue and how I use it.) Zygodactyl Feet help the woodpecker stay upright while climbing. Each foot has 3 forward toes, and one back, hooked toe. That's how it grips tight with the back toe as it maneuvers down a tree. (A message to watch what I'm hooking in on, fear or love.)
Drumming on the tree affirms a new rhythm is playing in our life. One that will eliminate our worries and allow success to take root in us. The beginning of something new is happening. New dimensions are opening up. A feeling of expansion.
But more was to come...
Later, while sitting in the sunshine in the Butterfly Garden, the cheery call of a bird brightened my day. It was a red-bellied-woodpecker flying in a roller coaster motion. Flapping wings in short bursts to gain height and gliding into free falls by folding its wings. But more of these young woodpeckers soon appeared. I counted five red-bellied woodpeckers flying from tree to tree, playing tag. Red heads shining in the sun, wings opened wide in a lightness of being.
More woodpeckers than I've yet to see in one day!
So take heart, dear friends. You too are equipped with everything you ever need. The Spirit of Truth resides in you, your Guide, Healer, Counselor, Teacher, and Friend. With spiritual guidance you have the foundation to move in any direction.
Unlike other birds, this woodpecker has a different flight pattern. That's why when one appears, it's important to listen and pursue endeavors unique to you. Doing things the old way will no longer work nor will doing things the way others have done them work for you.

To my thinking, now is the time to plan for the future in the manner best for you by going within and seeking answers the Holy Spirit offers. It will always be a win-win, and will bring peace. God goes with you wherever you are. The best is yet to be when we listen and are obedient, willing to move in a new direction when needed.
