The Weight of a Snow Flake

I love snow...even after living in Fairbanks, Alaska for two years, with a record breaking snowfall of 165 inches the first winter. So this morning when I woke up and found the ground blanketed with 6 inches of white powdery snow, it was magical. Snow transforms everything, quietly covering all. Flocks of birds came by to feed out of tins I set on the ground.

Later I came across an old 2004 journal with this newspaper article that seemed perfect for the blog today.

The Weight of a Snowflake

"Tell me the weight of a snowflake," a coal-mouse asked a wild dove.

"Nothing more than nothing" was the answer.

"In that case, I must tell you a marvelous story," the coal-mouse said.

"I sat on a branch of fir, close to its trunk, when it began to snow--not heavily, not a raging blizzard--no, just like in a dream, without a wound and without any violence. Since I did not have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes setting on the twigs and needles of my branch. Their number was exactly 3,741,952. When the 3,741,953rd dropped on the branch--nothing more than nothing, as you say--the branch broke off."

After having told this story, the coal-mouse ran away. The dove, who is since Noah's time an authority in peace-matters, sat thinking about the story a little while, and than spoke to himself: "Maybe we are only missing the voice of one person to come to peace in the whole world."

Wishing you a peaceful, joyous day with the angels.

Sometimes We Need to Try Softer

Learn the alchemy true human beings know. The moment you accept what troubles you've been given, the door will open. --Rumi

When something really scary lies buries within us, we must face it to clear it. This takes strength and strength often can take time. A buried strong feeling rules our lives. It's good to remember that whatever difficulty comes our way we invited it here on some level. There is an unhealed part of us that needs to be brought to light. Accepting what is happening, including your reaction to it, expands your peace and wisdom. What's going on within you? Accept it and love yourself. What's going on around you? Accept it and love others. If you find yourself judging, know that self judgment is hiding out somewhere in you and forgive yourself, accept and love yourself.

As we process our issues, there is divine help available, we are not alone. The more you become aware of the Angelic Host, the more you invite them into your life, the more you love them and accept them, the greater their Presence will flow into your affairs. Make this year an angelic year by making the call:

"Beloved I AM Presence make me acquainted with the Great Immortal Fire of the Angelic Host's Eternal Love. I demand my world become now a Sun of Its Victorious Presence filled with the fullness of every good thing and charged with the Immortal Freedom to enable me to go forth and give to the world the Sunshine of the Love of the Angelic Host." Wake Up!

Our adorable little tuxedo cat is a good teacher. It's hard to ignore her when she wants breakfast before sun up. Her tenacity in getting what she wants is inspiring and it works. If jumping up on my stomach and laying down to rest, purring loudly against my face doesn't stir me, I feel the gentle touch of her paw on my cheek. Followed by a wet lick on my nose. If that doesn't work, she gets more aggressive, taking a running leap and charging the covers. Mostly though, she is loving in her quest to be fed. With droopy eyes, I'm grateful that this little ball of fur is helping me start the day with a smile on my face. It's hard to be angry when showered with adoration and affection. In the end love does conquer all as I stumble in the dark to get her breakfast.

I could take a lesson from her when seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Be persistent. Keep at it through the day, inviting that loving Presence into everything I do and say. What a difference a day could make.

Angelic Blessings,

The Starry Nudge: An Angel Message

(Photo from the Hubble, The Globular Star Cluster 47 Tucanae)

There is a still inner voice that knows me better than I know myself.

Not the me I see in the mirror, but my spirit that is eternal.

It knows what I need to do to heal but so often that voice is drowned out by the din of the world.  Distracted by my five senses, I forget the real part of me that is greater than all of this. The part that is One with all Life, the part that is made in the image of God, the part that is forever.

Often I struggle to figure out a problem on my own. Then something happens to remind me to ask for help.  If I stop and ask the Holy Spirit to let me see things differently or let me have a word of knowledge or understanding, I will get it. Although not in the way my ego expects.

Last night I was concerned about a problem. Before bed, I remembered to ask the Holy Spirit for help. I had moved away from an awareness of His Presence for awhile and missed our interaction. I awoke in the middle of the night and lay in bed saying prayers for Haiti and loved ones, remembering God and His angels.

After a while I was nudged, Get up and look at the stars.

Less than enthusiastic about leaving my warm bed, I ignored the nudge and snuggled down under the covers.

As I tried to go back to sleep, the nudge came again.

Get up and look at the stars.

My ego made more excuses. Were the stars out? Maybe it's cloudy.

Tired, I stayed put.

But again, the nudge.

"Get up and look at the stars."

This must be important, I thought.  Reluctantly, I put on my heavy robe and padded barefoot down the hall to the living room.  From out the double wide picture windows, I caught a glimpse of the vast sky.  Bright stars twinkled in abundance above the tree tops.  It was so beautifully expansive, I wanted to be a part of it, so I stepped out on the cold wooden deck.

In the starry stillness of the light, I was suddenly awestruck as things came into their proper perspective. God is so much BIGGER than any of my problems. I need to listen and follow His guidance in order to find the peace and splendor of the unfolding way.

With a grateful heart, I returned to bed feeling peaceful. Angels are like stars. Often we don't see them until it gets dark.

While searching for a photo for the angel blog this morning, I found an article in my old files, Divine Order in the Universe by James Mullaney (former director of the Buhl Planetarium and the DuPont Planetarium.) In 1994, he introduced the term the photon connection.

"It's the amazing realization that when you see a star or other heavenly body, you are in direct physical contact with it via the photons of light it is emitting. Pieces of something that were once inside that star are entering your eye and ending their long journey across the vastness of space and time on your retina! Little wonder sky watchers throughout the ages have had illuminational, spiritual, and even out-of-body experiences as they partake of the "rapture of the deeps."

I am so thankful I followed the nudge. Next time, I will hopefully be more willing to obey.

The Hidden Blessing

I came across these wonderful words of wisdom from White Eagle that offers Light during these dark troubling times.

"Behind every dark happening, behind every difficulty, there is a hidden blessing. Man has to develop faith and confidence in God, knowing that at the right moment, at the acceptable time of the Lord, the magic will be worked, the dark shroud will fall away, and the radiant angel will be waiting. Behind all is the glory of God's life--the divine magic which illumines all life's happenings."

Have a joyful day knowing all is well with the Lord.

Many blessings,

Karen

The River of Life

In the Edgar Cayce readings, his wife,  Gertrude Cayce noted an experience she had while conducting a reading for her husband, Edgar on 12/30/37.

"During the first part of the reading [1504-1], which was a wonderful explanation of conditions, I was thinking that the questions the individual had sent in were all being answered.

"I just seemed to be somewhere up high (unaware of being a person, just a 'consciousness'), looking down on a most beautiful broad river, composed of bubbles; flowing - it seemed so smoothly and rhythmically, almost musically flowing; yet all the bubbles in a rush rolling by, around and over one another.

"Then I realized that the bubbles were PEOPLE; they finally reached a place where they burst and all seemed to be one, or go together.

"I thought, 'It is the River of Life!'"

"At this point I realized that I must pay attention to the reading, though I was hearing every word being said at the same time.

"It was a wonderful feeling."

This passage reminded me of the biography of Edgar Cayce, There is a River, a best seller in the 1940's. The book's title is from Psalm 46. "There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High."

Gertrude's conscious experience is a precious reminder of the Oneness of God, the oneness of our relationship with each other and all Life.

Smile to Life - Harmony and Health At Your Finger Tips

My angel friend Gerda gave me The Touch of Healing about Jin Shin Jyutsu. The book, by Alice Burmeister, is a wonderful guide to a simple healing tool. Our fingers and hands. The simple act of holding a finger can be a powerful tool for harmonizing the body. Each finger corresponds to an organ. What I like is that it can be done anywhere and only takes a few minutes. I began to "jumper cable" each finger daily. For example, the little finger helps the heart and small intestine. The attitude associated with that finger is pretense, i.e., "trying to." Most of us are trying to and spreading ourselves too thinly. The little finger called the 5th depth is the key to intuitive knowledge. In the book, I found these pointers important to learning to smile to life.

-- No judging or being judged. When we make judgments, we assume that we know a situation in its totality, which is impossible. Also, judgments assume any situation a person finds himself in could have been avoided by that person. This is unrealistic. Each act that one undertakes represents an awareness at a particular stage of development.

--No comparing or competing. All comparisons are false. Every person and situation is unique and therefore cannot be compared with anyone or anything else. All comparisons and all forms of competition are essentially founded on illusion.

-- No labeling or being labeled. To label is to limit. To be labeled by another person compromises our life condition. When we label a situation or condition with our own diagnosis, we give credibility and attention to the disharmony rather than the harmony.

--No asking why. All maturity and development is an organic process, an orderly unfolding. When we reach the time when understanding is needed, the answer emerges.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient Japanese practice that balances your body's energy by using the fingers and hands to eliminate stress, create emotional balance, relieve pain, and alleviate acute conditions. I don't know about you but I can use all the help I can get, so I give it a big thumbs up. :-D

Water of Life

I found this unusual picture entitled Ice Angels on the web. Water is an amazing element. It is everywhere. In the Zohar, The Book of Splendor, which is the mystical interpretation of the first five books of the Bible, we learn that water is a code word for light.

Jesus said, "I am the breath of life--I am the water of life--he that drinks shall never thirst." In his book, The Jesus I Knew (Talks on Christ and the Edgar Cayce Readings), Hugh Lynn Cayce shared a beautiful symbol for water that the Sleeping Prophet used when asked how that saying may be put into words that one may grasp the meaning of what it means for that Spirit of the Christ--as manifested in Jesus--to be present as it were in a million places at once?

"Now ye experience that H20 is water--everywhere! Then water is water, and a part of the whole, with all the essential elements that make for the ability of manifestations in bringing life, in quenching the thirst. And it becomes active thus in whatever sphere or phase it finds itself; whether in the frigid, as ice; in the temperate, as water; or in that phase as steam. Yet everywhere--in every phase--its activities are the same! And it may be illustrated as shown; three-fourths of the earth, three-fourths of man, three-fourths of all matter we find a composition of that which He gave is a manifestation of His presence, His force, His influence!

Then it may be understood as the individual entity grasps that idea that is as we deal, as we mete, as we measure to our fellowman, that the water of life flows through us.

Hence how applicable becomes that as He gave, "He that gives a cup of water in my name shall in no manner lose his reward." (Edgar Cayce Reading 1158-12)

The reading goes on to explain that "we can give symbolically--as a cup, a prayer, a smile, a word of encouragement, a touch of a hand, a healing thought, a constructive hopeful thought."

A Hard Nut to Crack

Nature is a great teacher. I was amused by this bushy tailed squirrel trying to crack open a big walnut this morning. On a narrow limb up a tree, he was eye level with me. Watching him meticulously keep at it, I got the message. Stay focused until you're done. Never mind what others around you may be doing or saying. (Like the big woman with the camera at the dining room window.)

Carefully turning his big prize between tiny paws. Gnawing evenly he kept on, round and round with little sign of a breakthrough. "Some nuts are hard to crack" I got to thinking about my goals. How they're in my hands but the secret is to keep working them until they bear fruit. No distractions. And not to give up.

I thanked the squirrel for the lesson in perserverance and then went about my own business.

May this year be one in which you crack open the fruits of your talents.

The Tree that Survived Winter

(The old apple tree)

Brrrrrrrrrr....The bird bath is frozen solid this morning. Even the pond has a crusty thickening. Elliot melted the ice in the birdbath with hot water. Less than a hour later, I saw a little wren slipping and sliding on the mini ice rink hoping for a drink.

Several years ago, I came across The Tree that Survived the Winter by Mary Fahy.

"You have survived the winter because you are,
and were, and always will be very much loved"
said the sun. "For that small place deep within you
that remained unfrozen and open to mystery, that
is where I have made my dwelling. And long, long,
before you felt my warmth surrounding you, you
were being freed and formed from within in ways
so deep and profound that you could not possibly
know what was happening."

We all go through winters in our lives. These words
give strength to my soul that more is always happening
than I can understand. And again, we are always in
the comforting presence of our guardian angel if we
still our minds and go within, we'll experience the
radiance of peace and love that surround us.

Happy New Year!

2010 got off to a great start when a flock of honking geese flew by the cottage early this morning. Happy New Year! Geese are symbolic of heeding the call to the quest. I'm always interested in what energies the New Year will bring. According to the book, The Secret of Numbers, 2010 is a 3 Universal Year in the nine year cycle. What was started in 1 year and germinated in a 2 year will begin to show results in a 3 year. It is an outgoing vibration and brings the joy of living. It is a year for optimism and expansion. It is a year of versatility of interests, with a tendency toward scattering energies in many directions. It is a year of extravagance. Money will be spent for pleasure and luxuries. It is a year of self-expression with a light touch. The performing arts and fashion prosper. There is much entertaining and being entertained. Nations and groups will find it a gregarious and social year. There will be opportunities for demonstrations of cultural and artistic developments by national or smaller groups. A time for cultural exchange and sociability.

By the way, the color for the Universal 3 Year is yellow. The color of faith and divine illumination. May this New Year be the best and brightest in all that you say and do. Your angels are waiting for an invitation to help you fulfill your life's purpose.

Angelic blessings & gratitude,

Karen
