Tribute to Our Dear Angel

Yesterday morning Angel made her peaceful transition having earned her wings.  If it hadn't been for that lovable eight pound ball of fur, I may never have become an angel blogger.  When she came to us nine years ago from the Virginia Beach Animal Shelter, Angel was the inspiration for daily photos and blogs about her wacky antics on ourhappycat.com.  I was on my way as she daily provided me with fun poses, enjoying the limelight.  That happy sojourn led to Angels for You now in its eighth year.

Elliot and I are REALLY going to miss her, but we are so thankful that our paths crossed and our hearts melded as one.  Our furry family members can heal us in ways no human can.

The photo above was taken several years ago.  It's the wallpaper on my cellphone.  Funny how things work out, as I took a closer look at it yesterday, I noticed the rock in the bowl marked "AH.... THANK YOU!"  My Mom's friend, Hawk, had a sense of humor.  One side of the rock says, PLEASE TURN ME OVER.  The other side, "AH...THANK YOU!"

Ah, Thank you, Angel for sharing your life and your love with us and we turn you over to God.

The link below is slide show and semi-classical music Elliot wrote dedicated to Angel seven years ago.

Fully Rely on God: An Angel Message

It's comforting to receive little heartfelt messages of encouragement from the Angels. Early this morning I found a little tree frog (see pic) in the living room after our meditation.  Fondly, I remembered F.R.O.G. is an acronym for Fully Rely On God.

I was concerned because our 12-year-old tuxedo cat, Angel shows signs of getting ready to leave us.  No longer interested in food, her biggest passion, we have a vet appointment today.  I know love is eternal, but the appearance of that frog messenger buoyed my spirits.

Another unusual event happened last evening.  The doorbell rang and I ran to answer it, but no one was there.  I looked up and down the street, no sign of anyone. Coming back into the living room, I found Mom's little doorknob pillow  I BELIEVE IN ANGELS on the floor.  It had been hanging on the living room door for three years, in our comings and goings, so I knew something was up.  A feeling of lightness swept over me, I felt there was unseen help as we go through this heartwrenching experience with our dear sweet cat.

I Believe in Angels.   It makes all the difference in my life.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

The Color Purple for Your Soul

The angels certainly know how to get our attention when they have something they want us to know.  For instance, many years ago my 90-year-old  friend, Genevah Seivertson, wrote a book, Angel Teachings.  In it, the angels had much to say about the value of color in our life.  One day I was guided to read her book again, but things got busy and it was put on hold.

Then to my surprise a few days later while running an errand, I got a big angel message in my face at the checkout at Ace Hardware. In a promo for Soul Paint, a life-size mannequin wore a badge, "WHAT COLOR IS YOUR SOUL?"

You can't make these things happen! The angels had been after me to add more color to my life. I got it!  I let out a laugh.  SOUL PAINT!

When I asked the manager if I could take a photo, he gladly invited me to take the "Purple Energy" mannequin home.  The promo had ended.   Purple is my favorite color.   It's a wonderful spiritual vibration. So it was a win-win.  A sign from the angels to be more spiritually minded in my thinking. To rise above the material and to focus on spiritual truth (unseen things above).

In The Angels' Teaching, the Angels recommended:

We would like you to make your prayers, PRAYERS OF COLOR."

I  love the idea of sending prayers in color.  So I leave you with a joyful prayer on lavender wings with a glint of golden rays for a wonderful new beginning with the Color Angels.

(After this blog, I paid more attention to the colors in everyday life.  I began to see drab rooms could be sparked by adding a bright, cheerful accent color here and there.  Lately I've had an urge to spice up the kitchen with a fresh coat of paint! Think color!)

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Dream Messages: An Angel Message

Angel messages may be delivered in creative ways in our dreams. I recall a memorable dream that took place several years ago, but brings an important message for today.

In that vivid dream, I was playing a board game with a girl friend from my church.  We were taking turns forming words on a large flat board (like Scrabble), but instead of the little one-sided wood tiles, we had six-sided children's ABC blocks.  The kind used to build towers.

Playing the game, the first clue my friend gave me was one of the seven synonyms for God.

TRUTH.

Happily, I had the blocks to spell TRUTH across the board. The game progressed well, adding more words, that I don't remember.  Near the end of the game when space was limited, I was delighted to see that I could squeeze the letters in to create the final word  REJOICE on board.

When I woke up from the dream, REJOICE and TRUTH were still playing in my mind.  A powerful angel message to remember that whatever may turn up on the game board of LIFE, REJOICE in the Truth.  God is infinite Love, always present everywhere.

I thought about those six-sided alphabet blocks.  They offered many choices to play out a word, so choose your options wisely.  Thoughts are things.

Then, a short time later, I found this photo titled, REJOICE! Sunflowers always turns their faces toward the sunlight, another gentle reminder to celebrate Life in each moment.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Service with a Smile: An Angel Message

While our power was out due to Irma, Elliot and I went to Chili's to cool off and have a good meal.   Our eating utensils were in brown bags with a heartfelt reminder:  WE WERE PUT HERE TO SERVE.  Service is the key.  How can we serve today?

Enjoy time with your Angels.

An Angel Surprise!

I love how Angel messages pop up when least expected.  This morning I was absorbed in potting a vine that had been rooting for many months in our kitchen window.  Its long thin roots had grown round and round, like a coil of thread, in a drinking glass full of water.  I decided to take action.

While out in the yard, bending down to scoop out potting soil from a Miracle Grow bag, I was surprised to find I was eye level with a new volunteer,  A purple shamrock! That was a first as I had not planted any and here it was!  Purple is a spiritual color and the shamrock represents the Holy Trinity.  I welcome these messages from nature.  Unseen help is ever present as we go through the storms of life.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Victory in the Storm

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your prayers.  Elliot and I are safe and so is our dwelling, built on a rock.  Irma was transformational on many levels.  Ninety 90 mph winds barreled down the north and south sides of this old 1927 stucco bungalow.  We prayed Psalm 91, and went to sleep without power.  A tornado watch at 2 a.m. woke us up and we stayed in gratitude for each moment, knowing God is the only Power that can act. God is all good all the time.  I held tight to the truth that we dwell under the shadow of the Almighty, and like two baby birds, we were nestled under the mother bird's sheltering wings.    Angel cat snuggled with us in bed during the long night.  A peaceful presence filled the room and I felt angelic support and protection.  At the height of the winds, I remembered a spiritual discipline.  To embrace each moment fully without trying to wish it away.  To go within and get in touch with that part of me that is eternal, that resides in the eternal now.  This helped me to stay at peace as I realized I was not my body, but an eternal spirit created by God.

The next morning, when I drew back the curtains, I wept tears of gratitude.  The 100 year old camphor tree at the back of the house knew how to bend, along with the towering oak tree next door.  All the hardwoods only suffered from minor pruning.  The pink plastic flamingos were still standing tall.  We had made it through the Red Sea.  The next step was to accept a week without electricity, and not murmur or complain, forgetting all the blessings. Again, moment by moment was the key. Gratitude for every little thing.  Neighbors came together.  There was a peaceful acceptance.

Yesterday afternoon the power came back on.  Now the work of helping others begins.  Prayers are needed more than ever.  Thank you all!

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

BOING! An Angel Message

Last night I heard unusual chirps coming from the dining room.  I was sitting on the sofa and didn't think much about it as they were  intermittent and low-key.

This morning after our meditation, what a surprise when we saw a large tree frog leap across the hardwood floors in the dining room!  He  must have come from a potted plant I brought indoors.

What joy to watch him jump around in great leaps and bounds!  Frog is favorite acronym as some of you know.

Frogs symbolize transformation through water and sound. Its voice is said to call for the rains to cleanse, to heal, to help plants grow and to stir things up.  These creatures have been known to be heralds of abundance and fertility. When frog appears it can mean that new rains are coming to bring fresh creative energies.

My favorite message when a FROG hops into our lives is that reassuring acronym Fully Rely On God.  All is well with my soul.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and blessings,

Rae Karen

Red Tailed Hawk

With the sun shining this Friday afternoon, I decided to enjoy the garden.  Walking along the stepping stones to the back patio, my attention was suddenly captured by a large, wide wingspan that flew close overhead.  In amazement, I watched a red-tailed hawk gracefully land in my neighbor's towering oak! The timing seemed so deliberate that I thanked him for being a messenger.   I stared up at the powerful bird perched on a low-lying limb with his back to me.  What was the message?  I know hawk can symbolize to get ready for an opportunity coming your way, or a need to take the higher view, but he sat on the limb, waiting.

Later I read, "The sky is the realm of the hawk.  Through its flight it communicates with humans and with the great creator spirit.  It awakens our vision and inspires us to a creative life purpose."  (Animal-Speak, Ted Andrews)

Enjoy your day with the Angels.  Thanks for all the prayers for Florida.  I've been working with Psalm 91 and finding peace.  My angel card this morning was Angel of Support! a reminder that the unseen realm is with us for which I am ever grateful.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

A Morning Star: Angel Message

(September 6, 2017 from my east window)

Yesterday morning I got up early to meditate and pray, and had more peace about Irma.  When I went back to my den and opened the curtains, I happened to look up and see a morning star.  There it was shining through a gray veiled sky!  I called Elliot to come take a look.  I hadn't seen a star in a long time and my angel card for the day was the Angel of Vision.  As I watched it dance through my camera lens, I was reminded of a quote from A Course in Miracles:

The truth in you remains as radiant as a star, as pure as light,
as innocent as love itself.

In the ACIM Manual for Teachers, I found another quote that fit the forecast for the day.

"The morning star of this new day looks on
a different world where God is welcomed
and His Son with Him."

Ponce de Leon named our state Florida which means "flowery place" or "land of flowers."   May we all bloom in peace.

Love and joyful blessings,

Misperception: An Angel Message

Sometimes things aren't as they appear to be.  At first glance, this photo makes our cat Angel look like a fierce tiger.  But in truth, I caught her in the middle of a yawn.   So what looked ferocious and threatening was just an awakening from a sweet dream on top of the fridge.

The angel message for today:  Don't rely solely on your five senses, wake up and go within to discern the truth before letting out a ROAR.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Like Water Off a Duck's Back: An Angel Message

                                (Photo from Wikimedia Commons)

Nature may appear as an angel herself like a burst of dawn cracking the dark night.  Shafts of first light reveal a flotilla of ducks gliding on the tide of  a new day.

Water is linked to feminine energies, as well as the emotional state of our being.  Ducks have a graceful presence when navigating the waters of life.  Their resilient quality can be a metaphor to help us handle our own charged emotions with more grace. When issues arise, we can practice discernment, and not get our feathers all ruffled.  Sometimes it's best to let insults just roll off you like water off a duck's back. And continue paddling towards your goal.

The angels went out of their way to make sure I heard this message. QUACK!  On a morning walk,  I found a toy duck on the sidewalk!

Enjoy your day with the Angels, and keep paddling.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

The Road Less Traveled: Angel Message

As you know, angel messages can wing their way to us in many different ways.  For instance, Friday evening our friend mentioned the word "discernment".  He was digging deeper into its spiritual meaning. The timing was on as  I needed an answer to an ongoing problem.  I knew I had to go within and discern the truth.  Surprisingly, I was at peace.  Regardless of the outcome,  I had surrendered to the Holy Spirit.  Before long, a solution to the pending problem came through the confirmation of another.

Then Sunday morning my random angel card for the day was Discernment. Something was up. This card can stir up uneasiness; a fear of making a wrong turn and suffering the consequences along the way. To stop and yield to the wisdom of Spirit can prevent an ego joy ride down a road going nowhere.  In truth, there is never an absolutely right way to go as every road traveled leads to a narrow pass where opportunities to learn lessons appear.  And we ask, why'd the right road make the wrong turn?

I did some research to understand discernment.

"Absorbed in material selfhood we discern and reflect but faintly the substance of Life or Mind.  The denial of material selfhood aids the discernment of man's spiritual and eternal individuality, and destroys the erroneous knowledge gained from matter or through what are termed the material senses."  (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy)

Webster's Dictionary defines discernment: "keenness of insight; a power to see what is not evident to the average mind."

I wish you the Angel of Discernment so that at every moment you may know which way to go. When we come to a crossroads, we have to decide.  Christ tells us to go through the narrow gate along the narrow road. (Matt. 7:13)  The broad road is the road traveled by all.

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

                    --Robert Frost

Enjoy your journey with the Angels.

Baby Cardinal: An Angel Message

Nothing warms the heart quite like a baby bird.  This little cardinal flew in on Saturday for a buffet of wild birdseed in our backyard feeder.  Nature was patient as I fiddled with the camera.  For extra measure, I asked the angels to help me get a good picture.

As I watched this chick, I thought about the perseverance it takes to peck a way out of a hard shell. The work pays off, giving wings to new vistas.   Cardinals brighten the garden.  This one is beginning to show some red in its feathers.  When one appears, it signals a need to renew your own vitality by adding more color to your life.  The cardinals have a loud whistle, and the female joins in with the male (unlike most other female birds).  Her song is a reminder for us to listen more closely to the feminine intuitive voice within.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

A Rainbow! An Angel Message

A rainbow is a wonderful sign from above, especially in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.  I would have missed this beauty if a honey bee hadn't caught my eye this afternoon.  I had just stepped out on the patio in time to watch its tiny wings fly straight up higher and higher.  This joyful flight led my gaze skyward to the colorful stripes of a rainbow!  By the time I grabbed my camera, the arc had paled, but the moment was rich with promise.

"I do set my bow in the cloud,
and it shall be a token of a
covenant between me and
the earth."
                Genesis  9:13.

Love and peaceful blessings,

Rae Karen
