The Agony in the Garden (1858)

I found great comfort that in Jesus' darkest hour when his disciples had fallen asleep, leaving him alone with his fears, an angel appeared to give the Master strength and comfort so that he could complete his earthly mission.
The same help is available to each of us as we go through our trials. In George Richmond's painting, The Agony in the Garden, he depicts a great light cracking open the darkness revealing an angel in Christ's midst. God never forsakes us. He has given his angels charge over us. (Psalm 91)
