A Promise Fulfilled, The Rose of Sharon
I am a rose of Sharon,
a lily of the valleys.
Song of Solomon 2:1
A dear friend showed up at my doorstep last winter with an unexpected gift. A straggly bush called a Rose of Sharon. Not much to look at, it held a promise of hidden beauty yet to unfold.
I planted it in the front yard and waited, but all through the spring and summer not one bloom. I began to make plans to replace it. Until this morning, to my surprise, a smiley full faced blossom greeted me in the sunlight. I got it, Practice patience, worthwhile things take time.
And so it is with us, often we want the quick and easy way to success, but nature teaches otherwise. An oak tree takes a hundred years to reach full maturity. The roots need time to sink deep into the soil to anchor the tree safely during storms.
I just read that The Rose of Sharon was taken from the Song of Solomon 2:1. Some Bible scholars see the Rose of Sharon as Christ. Another message, in order for us to grow and become Christ-like, it takes time and patience both with ourselves and with others.
Enjoy your day with the Angels.
Love and joyful blessings,
Rae Karen
