"I could see peace instead of this." (Lesson 34, A Course in Miracles)
The Lesson begins with a powerful statement: "Peace of mind is clearly an internal matter. It must begin with your own thoughts, and then extend outward. It is from your peace of mind that a peaceful perception of the world arises."
I was so thankful for the reminder. The peace exercise begins by searching your mind for any fear thoughts, anxiety provoking circumstances, "offending" personalities or events or any way in which you may be entertaining unloving thoughts.
Then repeat the phrase: I could see peace instead of this, slowly with eyes closed as you watch those thoughts arise in your mind, and let each one go, to be replaced with the next.
If it is difficult to think of specific issues continue to repeat the lesson slowly to yourself: I could see peace instead of this."
Whenever you feel your peace being disturbed in any way, repeat the application: "I could see peace instead of this."
Another helpful phrase you can tell yourself specifically: "I can replace my feelings of depression, anxiety or worry (or my thoughts about this situation, personality or event) with peace."
As I began to choose to focus on peace, instead of trying to solve a particular concern, I realized how much energy is poured into the problem rather than focusing on inner peace. With peace, things can naturally unfold for the highest good of all.
Enjoy your day with the Angels.
Love and blessings,
