A Loving Portrait: An Angel Message

A picture's worth a thousand words, and when we're feeling a little bit under the weather or beaten down by the world, our guardian angel holds the memory of our true identity in Spirit.  Years ago, this amusing artwork surfaced from an angel search of the Library of Congress collection.  The title, Look Pleasant Please, made me smile.  At the time, I was suffering from an acute case of self-pity.  The "Why me?" blues syndrome. Not realizing all my challenges were really gifts, designed to raise my thinking to a higher consciousness, to strengthen my spiritual muscles.

I laughed at myself when faced with this surprising picture of an angel. My mood lifted, dispelling my angst.  A loving reminder that we each have a Guardian Angel who knows us better than we know ourselves.  This angel companion throughout our life remembers our true identity as a Child of Light, and will bear witness to our spirit, not our ego. With a broad bush of loving kindness, and a colorful palette of patience, joy, love, peace, humility, grace, and forgiveness, our angel paints a portrait of our true Self.

And, whenever we may stumble and fall, our Guardian Angels offers a hand of encourage to get up and try again.  The best is yet to be.   Brighter days are up ahead.  Love will make a way.

O Guardian Angel, cover me with thy wing;
O Friend, illumine my path.  Direct my
footsteps and be my protection,
just for today.

--St. Therese of Lisieux

We give thanks to our angel companions.

Love and peace,

Rae Karen
