The artist Briton Riviere, specialized in painting animals, and his depiction of Daniel in the lions' den is a vision of the power of faith in the midst of terror. Daniel was 80-years-old when he was unjustly thrown to the lions. Because of his long history of trusting God, he knew to turn his back away from the hopeless human condition and to look to God for the answer. To have faith.
Not only did an angel of the Lord shut the mouths of the hungry lions, but God restored Daniel to his rightful position within the King's government. His jealous rivals, who prepared Daniel for a lion's meal, ended being served his fate.
We may feel like Daniel, trapped in a situation with overwhelming odds against us, and no relief in sight. Our hungry lions may take the form of a health challenge, a loss of a loved one, financial struggles, or relationship betrayals. By following Daniel's example, and looking away from the growling fears that are eager to swallow us up, we can turn our attention toward God, and know that He has sent his angels to be with us. Victory will come in the morning.
Enjoy your day with the Angels.
Love and joyful blessings,
Rae Karen
