I fondly recall a time shopping at Big Lots. I'd run into the store for a particular item. To my childish delight, a gigantic cardboard bin was smack dab in the middle of an aisle. A large box, overflowing with giant stuffed animals, unicorns, bears -- galore, ignited my inner child. Digging deep into the heap of posh large fuzzy animals, I found just what I needed.
A huge soft cuddly pink elephant!
I've always loved these giant gentle creatures. Hugging it close, I could feel my heart begin to lighten up. It hadn't been so long ago that my 96-year-old mom had made her transition. I was happy for her, but missed her motherly, loving touch. How strange to find such comfort in the arms of a soft pink elephant, but my guardian angel had guided me to the perfect remedy. A year later, the healing complete, I was prompted to pass along the elephant to another in need of a cuddly hug.
Elephants, the largest land mammals on earth, awaken a sense of awe and wonder within us. And most of all, an elephant never forgets. Each day is filled with loving blessings.
