Archangel Uriel, The Light of God

In looking back many years, this Polaroid photo of our weathered statue of Archangel Uriel, with the mandolin, (taken on November 16, 1998) in Virginia was a treasured keeper.   At that time, an inner voice had prompted: Grab the Polaroid camera! Take a picture of Uriel standing among the autumn leaves in the front yard.

"Smile, Uriel!" I kidded, crouching down to snap a photo of the large statue whose name means Light of God.

Eagerly waiting for the Polaroid picture to slowly develop, a pair of bright angel wings of light soon appeared...above Uriel's head! And, a powerful laser beam, a column of light,  passed through the reddish brown statue of the mighty angel passing into the earth.  Archangel Uriel had come shining through revealing the bigger picture!

And, so it is with us. "Let there be light..."

The Light is always with us, a spark of God, even though not readily seen with physical eyes. It still is.

Archangel Uriel is also known as the Angel of Music and Poetry. Folklore says Uriel warned Noah of the impending flood. Archangel Uriel helps out during disasters such as earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes. We have a dire need for celestial help at this time in our history.

Loving nature as I do, the following poem has brought me comfort over the years.  Whenever my ego looms with fearful whispers of death or fear of any kind in moments of weakness, these words come to mind when I still my mind and remember, restoring peace and harmony.

 There is a light in you which cannot die;

whose presence is so holy that the world is sanctified

because of you.

All things that live bring gifts to you,

and offer them in gratitude and gladness

 at your feet.

The scent of flowers is their gift to you.

The waves bow down before you

and

the trees extend their arms to shield you from the heat,

and lay their leaves before you on the ground

that you may walk in softness, while the wind sinks to

a whisper round your holy head.

The light in you is what the universe longs to behold.

All living things are still before you,

for they recognize Who walks with you.

The light you carry is their own.

(A Course in Miracles)

If you are struggling in the dark, remember the Light of God shines bright in you.  You are a spiritual being of light, forever shining in the Love of God.  The best is yet to be.  And, keep shining...

Love and peace,

Rae Karen
