The Howdy Bird: An Angel Message

Earlier this week, Elliot and I had a rare treat at lunch in Saint Augustine.  This curious baby bird landed on the outer window ledge by my side of the table.   Wide eyed, he stared up at me, cocking his little head and opening his mouth wide. His sudden appearance brought a rush of joyful goosebumps as I told him I would save some bread for him.  When I took the picture, he flew down  to the ground by the bushes.  He was so endearing that I wanted more, so I peeked over the ledge and called to him.  To my surprise, his little wings fluttered back up on the outer window sill where we could clearly commune eye to eye.

His timing was uncanny as we were talking about going back to Virginia for a visit.  A confirmation of sorts.  The Red Lobster restaurant had been one of Mom's favorite places, not that she had ever dined at this one.   It did seem as though that little birdie was a sign that Mom is still with us, an angel on the other side. I know Love is eternal, it never dies.

Later I read in Animal-Speak, that the dove is a symbol of traditional feminine and mother symbols. "It is a ground feeder, reflecting the need of keeping contact with Mother Earth and the creative possibilities of the feminine energies on earth."  Dove also represents peace, maternity, and prophecy.

This heaven-sent messenger was especially comforting as a dear friend of ours was preparing to graduate from earth school, a spiritual birth.

Leaving the restaurant with my biscuit in a paper napkin, I looked for the little birdie, but he had  flown away.  Crumbling the bread, I left it under the bush, in case he returned for a snack.

Something amusing happened when the cropped photo had been uploaded on my computer.  I let out a little laugh.  The truncated CHOWDER lettering on the window now backwards spelled HOWD!  HOWDee.  The Howdy Bird!  I love these playful angel messages that wing their way into our lives  just when they are needed the most.

Enjoy your day with the angels and look for the happy things to fill your day.

Love and joyful blessings,

Let It Be: An Angel Message

5/25/19 Orchid Surprise
After watering the garden this morning, I took a rest on the butterfly bench at the far end of the backyard.  Sitting in the sunlight, my eye caught a glimpse of a purplish pink bloom near the base of a nearby palm.  To my delightful surprise, a long forgotten orchid was in bloom.

At first, its lovely appearance seemed to good to be true. But then I recalled how that dormant hardy plant had bloomed before.
Orchid Blossom Blog 2/12/18
See how it stretched out from the top of the file cabinet, to get my attention.  After that February 12. 2018, rare display, I didn't expect an encore when it dropped its last bloom.  Not wanting to toss it out, I decided to tuck the little plant in a shady garden spot, and soon forgot about it.

I've shared before, how my best efforts to propagate orchids are zilch so I don't even try.  But I do, after many years, know there is great wisdom in just letting things be.  What will be will be...without any overshadowing from me.

5/25/19 Orchid Surprise in the Garden

This morning's surprise blessing has the promise of more blossoms to come.  Two more pods are in the wings. For now, this happy flower messenger, in its original plastic pot, brightens the mantle.  Just like the wild buttercup at the backdoor, it has everything within it that supports an ability to bloom.

I love these encouraging signs from the angels of nature. In Japan, the orchid represents love.  In love, sometimes the best thing we can do is to leave a tender situation alone, let it be.  Unseen help is in the works.  So if you're dealing with something that seems hopeless, just surrender and let it be. Keep having faith that all is well.

Enjoy your day and look for little angel love notes along the way.

With love and joyful blessings,

Bringing Down the Curtains: An Angel Message

It's funny how something so ordinary can show up at just the perfect time and provide an angel boost.  That's what happened on Saturday at sunset.

I went to shut the cafe curtains on the front porch and must have used a little more muscle than usual. The long expandable curtain rod and two sets of white curtains hit the floor.  I gave Elliot a shout and as we were readjusting the rod, I happened to look up.

What was going on?

I couldn't quite tell what was wrapped around the pink tufted mimosa tree as I gazed at it eye level from the window. It looked like a tan glob of play dough.  Then my vision shifted ever so slightly and to my delight it was a little tree-frog looking in at me.  His hands folded as if in prayer.

Well, no wonder he brought down the curtains!  His act took me by surprise in a sudden burst of laughter. I leaped for joy at the reminder to Fully Rely On God (F.R.O.G. acronym for FROG).

All things work together for good...  It was quite a curtain call.  :-D

Another surprise happened this morning with our tabby,  Hei Hei, on the porch by the window. He, too, put on a performance doing something new.  I watched him settle down to rest in the lap of a cloth handmade angel.  It was so sweet I had to take a picture.

Enjoy your day and remember in gratitude the angels who accompany you on your journey.  Expect the happy things of God to come to you today.  Rest in your angel's lap.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

Bubble of Clarity: An Angel Message

Nothing puts our mind to rest better than clarity.  With understanding, we can see things more clearly, and have more patience that all things are working out in divine order, for the highest good of all.

While resting on the patio beneath the heavy limb of my favorite hundred-year old camphor tree, I wondered what the angels may have to say about clarity.

"Deliberateness is the key to steady progress.  Actions focused on results unfold, and goals are reached effortlessly.  The universe knows the talents that you have and the service you need to perform.  But unless you are committed, the energy collapses and dribbles away, no longer cohesive.

Your desires and intents turn the wheels, creating motion, movement forward toward the goal.  Inertia serves no purpose.  To rest in God is to be actively engaged in His Ideas, ready to be made manifest as divine love in the physical realm.

Call eagerly with anticipation of being heard.  Place your order to be in service.  Listen and watch for signs and wonders to appear to direct your path.  Delivery is assured, and then my dear friend, the rest is up to you.  You are the answer to your fondest prayer, when coupled with the power of the Universe."

It's comforting to be reminded that we each have an abundance of loving unseen celestial help.  The heavenly angels wait patiently for us to yield to divine wisdom and share our light with the world.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Angels of Happiness - Come On Get Happy!

Zumba Dance Studio at Cocoa, FL
Sometimes we may find ourselves weighed down  by a longstanding issue. One that doesn't  go away no matter how hard we try our best to find a harmonious resolution.  It just ain't happening...for whatever reason.

I'm learning that maybe my unwillingness to accept things as they are now causes the delay.  The lesson is here for me to grow through, in peace and gratitude.  The more I grumble and hold a grievance, whining that things aren't going my way, the tighter the problem binds me.  Until I choose again to see it differently.

Several years ago, this bright yellow Zumba sign caught my eye while taking a mini vacation at Cocoa Beach. COME ON GET HAPPY.  Stuck at a stop light,  I stared glumly at the cheerful dance studio ad.  A sudden smile began to crack across my face as I sheepishly recognized the timing was an angel nudge to make a little wiggle room in my downward thinking.  The colorful happy message was just the lift I needed in that moment, to shake free and find joy.  COME ON GET HAPPY.  Be in the now.

Revisiting this older blog yesterday, inspiration came to tune into youtube and lighten up.  Listen to some Oldies.  Rockin' Robin, Please Mr. Postman, Beechwood 4-5789, Under the Boardwalk, Johnny Angel, such great melodies from the past.  Before long, I was up dancing the Mashed Potato, feeling happy and carefree.

Enjoy your day with the Angels. And, choose to get happy.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

A Little Willingness: An Angel Message

Joyfully, I call to mind the delightful surprise that happened early Saturday morning.  When I opened the back door, my sleep filled eyes also opened wide at the sight of four yellow buttercups. Lately this wild miracle plant has had only one or two buttery blossoms at most, and, for a while, its green leaves were somewhat sparse on the single woody stem growing out of the wall.

Now this amazing little Over Comer has managed to branch out... to thrive and grow tall for over a year, living in a narrow crack at our back door.

Such a sweet little companion she has become ever since she showed up, seeded by the winds. I've watched her grow, a tiny sprout out of that little crack, through all four seasons.  Faithful in all kinds of weather, she is a testimony to perseverance.

Like a burst of sunshine, the tall Buttercup plant now greets me at eye-level as I open the door to faithfully feed Gus, our friendly stray cat, patiently waiting for breakfast each morning.

Buttercup's cheerful presence has such vitality that admittedly I greet her with a term of endearment, too.  "Choo-skee" I call her.   "Good morning, Choo-skee! Look at you!" I say, admiring her determination and beauty.

She smiles back in bright yellow blossoms, opened wide to let in the sunlight.  Her lesson seems to be,  It doesn't take a whole lot in the material world to bloom -- just a little willingness, and then celestial unseen help will come rushing in to help you fulfill your purpose.

I've written about her amazing progress in other angel blogs.  But, there's something special about this wild buttercup that keeps on joyfully expressing herself, doing her best to put a smile out there.

You can't make these sort of things happen, as you know.  And, when they do come along, it's a wonderful lesson unseen help is always available.  A demonstration that defies material laws and helps our faith to stretch and grow.  An encouraging reminder that much is happening behind the scenes on the stage of life. So keep on smiling and have faith.

Although the seasons have come and gone,  Buttercup is still here, standing tall, smiling in a bright flower or two. Welcoming another day in which to grow stronger and stretch higher toward the Light.

Thank you, sweet Buttercup, for teaching by example.  Although her colorful blossoms only last one day at a time, there are new ones waiting in the wings.

Enjoy your day with the Angels, and keep looking toward the Light to grow and bloom.  Smile to Life like Choo-skee.

Joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

Corresponding Energy: An Angel Message

When I was a child, my Mom often said, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

Good advice and more powerful than we may realize since we live in a universe of invisible energies that are called into action by what we say and do.

In God is a Verb, Kabbalists teach that everything we do stirs up a corresponding energy in other realms of reality. Our actions, words, and thoughts set up reverberations in the universe. And, the universe unfolds from moment to moment as a result of all the variables leading up to that moment.

When we stay vigilant we are careful what words we say or think for we know that everything is interdependent. We know that a seemingly insignificant gesture could have weighty consequences.
If we speak casually about someone in the negative, it's important to remember that our words give birth to negative energy that will boomerang that same caustic energy back to us.

Likewise, positive words and acts, bring rewards of peace, joy, harmony, and love.

The angels advise that no matter how justified a negative judgment may be, gossiping and pessimistic thinking bring negative energy into our lives. We are responsible for creating our experience by the thoughts we consistently entertain.

Peace begins with me, and my thoughts...

Wishing you a joyful day with your angels, filled with happy thoughts of God's Love.

The Angel of Exuberance!

The angel word for today is exuberance.  Many years ago, the Angel of Exuberance must have led me to this hand-stitched peacock tapestry at a local thrift shop.

Exuberance is to be full of life!  Just saying the word Exuberance gives a much needed boost, an uplifting feeling.  The Angel of Exuberance comes to offer an opportunity to let go of our persona-- the role we play, the mask we wear, and become high-spirited, fully alive and spontaneous in the moment.  The peacock shown here appears to be taking one last look at what was, before making a leap of faith into a new and exciting flow.  A reminder to be watchful, that we, too, can shed the past and resurrect by staying open for opportunities to begin something new and meaningful that fills our soul.

Since the beginning of spring, peacocks have been capturing my attention.  I looked up the symbolism again in Animal-Speak.

The keynote of the peacock is resurrection and wise vision (watchfulness).  Of all the birds, the peacock resembles the traditional description of the phoenix.  The phoenix is the legendary bird of resurrection that is sacrificed in the fires of life and then rises from the flames out of its own ashes.  The peacock is a reflection of the phoenix that touches many cultures.  In Chinese mythology the plumage is a blending of the five colors that have a sweet harmony of sound.  In Egypt it was linked to the sun god, Amon-Ra.  In Christianity it was a symbol of the death and resurrection of Jesus.  In Egypt it was associated with the all seeing eye of Horus.

Enjoy your day, and if it feels right, stay vigilant for new beginnings.  It doesn't have to be anything big, just try to do one thing out of your ordinary routine and watch what happens.  Be exuberant!

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

In Pursuit of Peacocks: An Angel Message

I always get a thrill at the sight of a peacock! My inner child perks up as if turning the pages of a favorite fairy tale. Peacocks bring to mind the wonder of life. Miracles. This exquisite bird, with its many feathery "eyes" of turquoise and emerald, show up and out with a message:  Be watchful for all of the little miracles that cross your path each day.  There is so much to be grateful for.  The little crown on top of their royal blue head is a reminder that we rule our day by the thoughts we think. Thoughts are energy, so watch what you're putting out there. Love or fear.

Now the call of a peacock in no way matches its magnificent beauty.  A loud raucous screech, it demands attention and sounds like a cat bellowing in distress or a wild woman lost in the forest.

On our last visit to St. Augustine, we visited the little chapel on the beautiful Sacred Acre at Mission Nombre de Dios. A favorite spot on the inlet where I feel close to God in nature.

In the quietude of the vine covered chapel,  my prayer time was suddenly interrupted by the distinct call of a peacock.  I'll admit that I sprang from my seat on the last row of the old wood pew and ran out into the sunlight.

But there was no peacock.

Chastising myself for the distraction, I returned to the chapel.  The call must have come from The Ponce de Leon Fountain of Youth next door, a tourist attraction where wild peacocks roam among the tall oaks.

Walking the Mission path, I turned it over to the angels.  If I was suppose to see a peacock it would happen, and only if the peacock wanted to  come by.  Elliot and I sat down to rest on a stone bench overlooking the water.  Several osprey flew over, casting their shadow on the lawn.

Then I heard the peacock call!  I jumped up  and there he was.  Outside the tall wrought iron fence at the Mission.  He had ventured across the neighborhood street and was looking my way.   There was no way for me to get outside the fence to greet him, but I told him I was thankful he had shown up.  To my surprise, he turned and headed back through a construction site, as I tried my best to take pictures through the fence railing.

The caller emerges here.

Leading the way, my phone camera follows.  See his reflection in the rain puddle.
He kept on strutting, showing me the way.
When he approached this tall wooden fence, with a gate,  I expected he was stopping by for a handout.  Someone would step out to feed him.  But to my surprise, he just leaped up on the fence top and dropped down on the other side.  An idea emerged for us to go to Fountain of Youth the next morning.

Well, it might seem like a wild peacock chase, but we followed the lead.    Our last visit was back in 2011.  Colonial America began here 55 years before the Pilgrim's landed on Plymouth Rock.
As we got out of the car, a peacock called loudly from a tree in the parking lot.  Heard but not seen. We took it as a cue.

Entering the admissions gate, we walked by the beautiful garden, where Elliot spotted a statue of a peacock watching over the flowers.

But more was to come.  Around the corner, this beauty appeared.  At first, his backside was to the camera--nothing special, just drab and plain. But it was amusing to see his brown tail feathers were happily wagging like a duck.

To our delight, slowly he pivoted...

VOILA!  What a show!

I was so thankful that Elliot and I had followed the call of the wild peacock.  It led us to spend a beautiful morning in nature.  The park had just opened.  We strolled down the new long wooden pier and sat on the deck admiring the sparkling crystal waters of the St. Augustine Inlet. It was one of those lovely moments in time that go beyond words.

So, I'll admit that maybe it was my imagination when the peacock first appeared through the fence, leading the way. But a special request from the angels does had spice to the mystery of life.   And, I took away another message from my peacock teacher.  Turn around and express your best side as you go through the day.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen
