Yesterday an impromptu trip to the public library brought unexpected surprises. At the Nest bookstore, the librarian invited me and Elliot to play a Santa game. We were to search for a Santa Claus she had hidden in the book shop and the winner could pick out any book for free. Pointing to the picture posted of Santa on the door, she said, "It's exactly like this one."
I love a treasure hunt and no other customers were around as Elliot and I spread out. I eagerly began to look for Santa using my logical mind, my eyes quickly scanned the rows of book cases. It seemed an impossible task to find Santa. But something caught me by surprise. A peaceful angel thought suggested, Why not stand still in the room full of books, and quietly ask for guidance. A good idea as I'd forgotten to tune in and listen. I closed my eyes. If this is meant for me, show me the way.
In the stillness, I happened to look up high turning my head to the right. LOL! I caught a glimpse of Santa's toy bag sticking out from behind the Friends of the Library framed sign on top of the bookcase. I reached up and grabbed jolly St. Nick returning him to the smiling librarian at the desk.
Now to find the prize, a free book of choice. The bigger the better...was my ego's first thought...but then a quiet inner voice suggested: Why not choose a memorable book, a reminder of the lesson you just learned about seeking and finding within. In a matter of minutes, I found it. Lighthouse Psalms - God's Gift of Hope and Direction. A beautiful collection of serene seascapes and psalms on guidance and direction.
More was to come... it didn't occur to me how perfect the Lighthouse book selection was until later at home. I opened the book randomly for guidance. Directing Every Detail popped up on a page:
