Hawks have been a long-time celestial messenger of mine. Last weekend this Red-Shouldered Hawk landed on the playhouse gym set outside my office window. Hawks haven't been around here lately. His yellow talons clung to the wet roof of the playhouse--a sign to take time out for fun. To balance between work and play.
Whenever an animal or a bird crosses our path, pay attention to the behavior. It may be a heads-up for a lesson coming our way. What were you thinking or doing before the encounter? What has most been on your mind the last 24 hours?
I stood by my desk zooming in for a closeup. The juvenile hawk turned his head to make sure he had my attention.
Then he struck a rare pose. Lifting up his left leg, he maintained balance while standing on only one foot. Bright yellow talons were curved downward like fingers on his raised leg. In all my years of hawk watching, I've yet to see a hawk stand on only one leg. I snapped away as he patiently held that pose for a long time.
Curious, I wondered what was the angel message?
Was it to give someone else a leg-up at this hour? Or, to stand up for what's right even when it's hard? To face difficulties with a brave heart?
Sky is the realm of the hawk. Hawks have keen vision and can see the bigger picture. Whenever one appears, pay attention. A message is coming your way. If you're reading this hawk messenger is for you, too.
Red-shouldered hawks are more vocal than the others and fiercely defend their territory. He looked my way...opened his beak wide and shrieked. Then with a flapping of powerful wings, he took to the sky flying by my office windows.
In his wake, a small white feather gently floated down from the sky. You can't make these things happen, I smiled, thankful for a gift from the angels. Love will always make a way.
Remember you are never alone. God has given his angels charge over you so abide in the Secret Place of the Most High. God is Love.
Love and peace,
Rae Karen
