God's Spiritual Household

I came across this prayer several months ago and soon forgot about it.  The Angels brought it to my attention this morning. I wanted to share it with you.

God’s Spiritual Household

Beloved Father-Mother God, give us wisdom to meet problems that come up to be met today. Give me understanding to deny error. Give me grace to remain silent when it is not necessary to speak. Oh Love, take me in. Give me one mind, one consciousness and enable me to love my neighbor as myself. When I cease to judge, criticize or condemn, I begin to progress.    

It is comforting to know that we live and move and breathe in the Presence of God, but this wonderful gift is null and void unless we pause in gratitude throughout the day and still our minds to become aware of this tangible blessing.  Rejoice that God is only Love.

Memorial Day

My 91-year-old Mom called on Friday evening, excited about a wonderful traveling high school band that put on a Memorial Day program at the military retirement community where she lives. They played the old Glen Miller favorites from her era, like In the Mood. At the end of the show, they sung the fight songs of the three branches of military service, honoring those who fought and sacrificed much for our freedom. The teens put on a terrific show and there was a synergy that moved between the youth and the elders.

Mom thought of me when she saw the evening program. It had a special prayer.

"We pray that:

Angels before you guide and direct you.
Angels behind you watch over and bless you.
Angels beside you care for, comfort, and
strengthen you.

The Light of God surround you
The Love of God enfold you
The Power of God protect you
The Divine Presence of God be with you.
The Peace of God be in your heart.
Wherever you are, God is and all is well."

The prayer is a wonderful reminder that we are always in the company of Angels. Edgar Cayce, the Sleeping Prophet, gave an interesting reading for a young man who miraculously survived a close brush with death on the battlefield in World War I. Although wounded, the man was physically helped off the battlefield by an angel. The man later asked about the meaning of this angelic encounter in a reading with Edgar Cayce.

"In the angel stooping on the field, in the walking through the garden with the shadow...the entity was being guided, or guarded, or protected, that that as had been promised from the foundations of the world would be to each individual, "If ye will be my people I will be thy God." He that walketh in the light, and purposes in his heart to do, be that which the Creative Forces would have one be, shall not be left alone! for...His arm, His hand, will direct thy ways." In his book, Cayce on Angels, Archangels and Unseen Forces, Robert Grant tells us that in this reading God's arm and hand are the angels who are our constant companions and guardians through life.
Today let us salute the brave soldiers who serve or have served in our Armed Forces as well as all the guardian angels who serve right along beside them. Thanks, Dad.

Invoking the Four Archangels

I've been practicing an invocation for several years that I read about in the Zohar. It's a wonderful way to surround yourself with the Archangels. To invoke is simply to recognize their presence. I sit still, with eyes closed and begin by silently calling on Archangel Michael to be on my right side. (His name is Who is Like God.) I pause to feel his presence.

Next, I invoke Archangel Gabriel to be on my left side. (His name is God is my Strength) I pause to feel his presence.

Then in front of me, I invoke Archangel Uriel, (His name is Fire of God). I pause to feel his presence.

Then I invoke Archangel Raphael to be at my back. (His name is Shining One Who Heals).

I crown the prayer, by invoking the shekinah, the divine feminine of Creation to be above me.

I have learned a lot about the angels from The Zohar, The Book of Splendor. It contains the mystical interpretation of the first five books of the Bible. I was surprised the symbols for the four archangels are depicted as:

Archangel Michael as the lion.
Archangel Gabriel as the ox.
Archangel Uriel as the eagle.
Archangel Raphael as man.

"When a person opens his lips during the weekdays at the evening prayer, an eagle descends to carry the prayer of the night upon its wings. This eagle is called Uriel.

During the morning prayer, the lion descends to receive the prayer with its arms and wings--every living creature has four wings. This is the Angel Michael.

During the afternoon prayer, the ox descends to receive the prayer with its horns and wings. This is the Angel Gabriel." (The Zohar, Vol. 1)

With so much happening in the world today, we can all use prayer, not only for ourselves and loved ones, but for the world.
