When going through major trials I find it helpful to focus on an image of hope. I imagine myself as a baby chick inside an egg. Each adversity that comes is a chance for me to peck harder on that dark, exterior shell. (Pecking away through prayer, meditation, contemplation, etc.) One peck at a time, I'm closer to great freedom.
Shattering the dark illusion, I will wiggle out of brokenness into the Light. With new-found wings spread open wide, what joy to soar fetter-less toward heavenly vistas.
Like a song bird in the night,
it sings, knowing the dawn is
coming.
