Our sandhill crane couple has been shying away since the new birth, taking time for the little one to adjust to new life in the pasture next door. Then yesterday the whole family appeared. What joy to see the little long-legged colt keep up with his parents, grousing for sustenance.
Rather than disturb the sweet little family, I watched them from the porch and took pictures through the screen door to share the good news with you.
This is the fourth generation of sandhills we've had the honor to watch and learn about raising their family, learning much about patience, selflessness, and seasons of adjustment as they stay grounded to protect and nourish the little one until he reaches maturity and can spread his wings and take to the sky together.
Sandhill cranes are high flyers, and they always announce their presence with loud calls. Because of this they are often considered noble guardians, calling loudly to forewarn. The other amazing quality of the crane is its mating dancing, expressing the joy of life. Life is meant to be danced and celebrated. When cranes appear it is usually time for us to join in the dance of life again.
Have a joyful day in nature. Listen and watch for angel messages that come your way. The best is yet to be. You are never alone. God has given his angels charge over you.
Love and peace,
Rae Karen
