A Floral Apostle, Optunia humifusa

Yesterday while backing down the driveway to get the mail, the angels had made a special delivery. I had to stop and take a picture of a floral apostle's testimony. The prickly pear cactus boasted a host of cheery delicate blossoms in full bloom.   Known as Optunia humifusa in the flower world, her abundant paddles held many more buds.  A promise of future opportunities to bloom.  Optunia was well-named...

An infusion of joy came over me when I saw a honey bee rolling around, bathing in the sweet nectar of the flower.  Bees are about doing the impossible-- aerodynamically their heavy bodies and tiny wings make flying seem unlikely, the fast speed of those little wings makes the difference.

I was thankful for the angel's nudge to take a lesson from the prickly pear cactus that had bloomed in harsh conditions. A reminder that through adversity, not to give up, the best is yet to be. With faith, we will fully blossom like the radiant yellow Optunia, opening wide in celebration and joy to share the good news with others. All things are possible with God.

Love and peace,

Rae Karen
