Red Shouldered Hawk: Angel Messenger

Last Saturday, I was startled to see a red hawk perched on the black cable in front of our house.  A rare sight, and he was intently staring down at me as I went to close the curtains on the glass porch door.  I knew something was up.

My motivation for closing the curtains had been to avoid greeting any unexpected visitors that may drop by.   It was late in the morning, and I had been reading on the sofa, still wearing my comfy pajamas. A thought had suddenly come: Get up and close the curtains. Someone may be coming by.

What a surprise that it was a hawk visitation!

Hawk has always been a special angel messenger to me. A sign to pay attention to the big picture.  To get ready for an opportunity that may come your way.   Heeding the message, I got dressed to meet the day.  A few hours later, at lunch time, there was a knock on the door.  The guidance had been in divine order, and I had renewed faith that my inner-hearing was better than I thought.  Something I often need reassurance on.

Then yesterday, hawk synchronicity was at play when I happened upon this amazing story on-line while studying the weekly Bible lesson on Life.

In Guideposts, Ronald Pinkerton describes a near accident he had while hang gliding. He had launched his hang glider and been forcefully lifted 4,200 feet into the air. As he was descending, he was suddenly hit by a powerful new blast of air that sent his hang glider plummeting toward the ground.
“I was falling at an alarming rate. Trapped in an airborne rip tide, I was going to crash! Then I saw him--a red-tailed hawk. He was six feet off my right wing tip, fighting the same gust I was . . .
I looked down: 300 feet from the ground and still falling. The trees below seemed like menacing pikes.
I looked at the hawk again. Suddenly he banked and flew straight downwind. Downwind! If the right air is anywhere, it’s upwind! The hawk was committing suicide.
Two hundred feet. From nowhere the thought entered my mind: Follow the hawk. It went against everything I knew about flying. But now all my knowledge was useless. I was at the mercy of the wind. I followed the hawk.
One hundred feet. Suddenly the hawk gained altitude. For a split second I seemed to be suspended motionless in space. Then a warm surge of air started pushing the glider upward. I was stunned. Nothing I knew as a pilot could explain this phenomenon. But it was true: I was rising.

What a wonderful testimony to follow that still inner voice when faced with a crisis, and not simply rely on what we think we humanly know best in the midst of any threatening situation.

I'm so thankful for the abundance of unseen celestial help that is available to us.  God is Love and is All-Knowing and ever present.   Angels will bring whatever catches our attention to bring us a message of assistance.  How comforting to know that in the midst of great adversity, a way will open up if we trust and have faith in the guidance.  Psalm 91 is the prayer of protection that charges the angels to watch over us and lift us up to avoid the stones on the path, but we have a part to play by daily keeping our consciousness on high, in the Shadow of the Almighty.  Nothing is impossible with God.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding."

Hei Hei: A Window of Purr-fection

One clue will usually lead to another if we keep our eyes open along the way.  But it isn't until the goal is completed that we can piece together the events that lead up to a perfect picture.  For instance, last summer, I came across a vintage postcard of a cosmic cat looking in the living window of a house.  Loving cats in a BIG way, this card was a keeper.

For the past year, Elliot and I have been in search of a furry feline to join the family, but it just wasn't happening for one reason or another.

Last Tuesday, while out for an afternoon drive in the sunshine, Elliot suggested stopping by the local animal shelter to share love with the cats.  Spontaneity is the language of angels.  We knew something was up as we turned off the main road.  A BIG YELLOW HEAVY DUTY Road Grader was smoothing our way as we slowly followed it down the long dirt road to the wooded shelter.  Amused by the timing, we laughed, wondering if it was a sign that the road had been cleared before us to find and adopt the "right" cat.

It turned out that a cute six-month-old tabby male had been admitted the day before.  A perfect match as little Hei-Hei greeted us with bright eyes and eager paws.  The cuddly kitten had been named by a local mayor who had found the stray and given it her initials, after delivering him to the shelter for adoption.

His name has a spiritual meaning.  "Hei" is the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet (pronounced Hey). The shape of the letter Hei is like a window that is slightly open at the top and represents illumination. Light.

On our way home from the shelter, we passed by the large CAT Grader as it waited to turn farther down the main road.  From that angle we could clearly see CAT in big letters on the truck's cab! The universe is certainly playful. We laughed, heading home with our little Hei-Hei who has since opened a great window of joyful love, illumining our lives in purrrfection.

Would you believe a few days later, I got a postcard from Sweden, with the greeting Hej Hej which means Hey Hey in Swedish.   I love it!!

Enjoy your day with the Angels.  Have fun watching for the happy things of God to come to you.

Love and joyful blessings,

A Salute to Buttercup: An Angel Message

The wild buttercup growing against all odds--out of a crack in the stucco wall by the back door--continues to be a joyful messenger.  The buttery colored flower is a sign to develop better self-worth.  Because with proper self-worth, we can succeed in any environment as this flower so beautifully teaches.

On New Year's Eve, I opened the back door, hoping to see a bud in bloom.  It doesn't happen everyday.  Sure enough, a single sunny flower had blossomed like a golden crown atop the tall green leafy plant. Since seeded by the wind last spring, this persevering plant is now taller than I am! Like an old friend,  I speak to it in my comings and goings.

So thank you, buttercup angel messenger for bringing a message of hope in the New Year.  A lesson to keep on stretching upward toward the Light day by day-- that we too, have got what it takes to overcome all odds.  Spiritual power.

Buttercup also heralds a time of healing and understanding. It alerts you to opportunities for new life directions, and for sharing your light with others.  So feel free to express yourself as the power of your words will have greater power now when applied to healing.

Have a joyful day with the angels.  Watch for what unusual nature messages come across your path.

Welcoming the Birth of a New Year: An Angel Message

On New Year's Eve, an angel nudge brought my attention to a lovely visual image on the dining room wall. The late afternoon sun had created a muted reflection of our stained glass purple iris, hanging high up in the dining room window!  To my delight, it had cast a floral backdrop where the carved wooden statue of the Blessed Mother stands on the fireplace mantle.

I'm always so grateful when these unexpected gifts appear although I didn't make the connection of Mary with the iris until this morning when I looked out the porch window.  Two white African irises joyfully greeted the sunshine of a New Year.  The other flowers were mostly at rest, but these two floral apostles seemed eager to usher in a powerful message.

Iris represents a need to keep on having faith, for a new birth will soon be coming!  It brings with it a new sense of peace and well-being.  A message we can all use as we go through the travailing process!

In reviewing the iris symbolism just now, I read that the iris is sacred to the Blessed Mother as Archangel Gabriel is often painted as presenting Mary with an iris as he announces God's plan for her to become the mother of Christ.

So keep smiling to Life and be not deceived by appearances.  Love more and fear less, is always the message of the angels.  More is going on than meets the eye.  Trust that God loves you and is working everything out according to divine plan.  A new birth is on the horizon, so as best as we can keep our prayers and thoughts on high, and remember that you are not alone.  He has given his angels charge over thee.

Love and joyful blessings for a wonderful happy, healthy, and uplifting New Year.

Fully Rely on God: An Angel Message

F.R.O.G. Fully Reply on God  11-6-18

This week my son is visiting.  Last night on our way home from dinner out, he discovered a little frog when we got out of the car at the shopping center.  It was only when the little fellow took a leap on the gray parking lot pavement that David could see it.  Frogs are about taking a leap of faith.

More F.R.O.G. energy appeared at home after dark.  While we were sitting in the living room having a lively talk, this little tree frog took a leap up on the outer window ledge. "Here's a frog!" Elliot said, spotting it from the couch.  The timing was a surprise, our first froggy visitation in almost a month.

We all got up to take a look, knowing Fully Rely On God was the message.

Three little fingers were pressed against the glass pane as if the frog were counting the three of us enjoying a wonderful visit as he lovingly looked in the window.

David got a picture.

The frog's big eyes are wide open.   I love how the glass reflection captured me on the couch. It appears so real but it is just a reflection.  Not the real deal.  A reminder to Fully Rely On God (F.R.O.G)   Unseen heavenly help is always watching over us as we awaken in the dream to embrace our true reality.

Enjoy your day with the Angels, and fully rely on God.

Love and joyful blessings,

And the winner is...

Recently, Elliot and I had stopped by the Family Bookstore so he could order a book.  I happened to notice a free drawing on the counter.  A chance to win nature books on Florida.  On a whim, I filled out the entry form, folded it in half, and tucked it into a glass jar, not really expecting to be a winner.

What a surprise to receive the winning phone call.  When I came to the store to collect my bounty, the owner wanted my picture for the newsletter.

I'm so thankful that now I can identify the Florida birds in our yard by name.  Also, learn the names of the seashells, one is known as angel wings.

Lastly, a wonderful guidebook on sights to see in the "Land of Flowers".

The angels remind me that if you want to win, you have to toss your name in the ring.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

The Door Jamb: An Angel Message

As you know, lessons can be learned from many ordinary acts that play out in our lives.

Over the long spring and summer months, the heat and rain caused our backdoor to warp.  In our going out and in our coming in, it would take both hands tugging on the knob before it opened.  The adjustment was delayed in hopes that cool weather would contract the wood.

In patience, we laughed that at least we were building our muscles. This door has a welcoming personality.  It is the door where the wild buttercup plant grows out of a crack in the stucco wall.  A little palmetto plant has grown into a leafy tree.  The door where hungry cats show up for a meal, and stay.  We have one orange tabby now, but the max in the past 8 years has been two stray felines.  Another lesson in following guidance, and not letting fear rule that to feed one cat is to feed a soon-to-be army.  In truth, what blesses one blesses all.

But back to the backdoor ...

Last week, a carpenter came and adjusted the doorjamb, leveled the frame, and now our access is free and easy.

We are no longer stuck!  Elliot laughed.

But here's the thing-- I still find myself in that old familiar pattern as I come and go throughout the day. My brain is slow to catch on as I impetuously yank on that doorknob.  The force of this act causes me to be thrust backwards in surprise. The struggle is all my own. There is no opposition.

This routine approach to the fixed door has given me an aha moment.  Do I still handle resolved issues without realizing they are a thing of the past?  I am thankful for the reminder of how old embedded memories may still be playing out long after a physical challenge or a difficult relationship has been healed.

I must be patient with myself.  A mental adjustment is needed, with the help of the angels and the Holy Spirit.  Now, at least as I approach the backdoor, I try to slow down and remind myself to relax, it is unstuck.  And, so am I-- from exerting unnecessary energy towards that old pattern.

On mindful days, I will remember to invite the angels to go before me as I gladly venture out the door.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

Wake up: An Angel Message

In keeping with the recent Alice in Wonderland theme playing out in my life, it was amusing to see this "Wake up sign" at the hotel in St. Augustine.  Elliot and I were waiting to be seated for dinner. Angels draw your attention to messages, how are they playing out in your dream today?  Remember you are never alone.

Love and joyful blessings,

The Madonna with the White Rabbit: An Angel Message

The Virgin with the Rabbit and her mother, St, Anne
Angels messages come in many ways, but I've noticed over the past few years, they tend to appear in reflections of light.

Early this morning, October 26, 2018, the sky was gray with gentle rains.  Before noon, the weather had shifted.  As I entered the living room, to my surprise, I saw The Virgin with the Rabbit canvas in a new and different light.

Sunlight pouring through the window had created an enormous wedge of light. Like an arrow, it  pointed from the Christ child to the docile white rabbit in his mother's left hand.

I was reminded of  the harried rabbit in Alice in Wonderland.  Only this rabbit appeared to be in very good hands, waiting near the top of a tunnel of light in the rabbit-hole.

The Christ in the painting is shown with his mother, and her mother, St., Anne, and he is the focal point of their loving maternal attention.  White is the symbol of purity, represented by the little rabbit.

Looking closely, I noticed the silhouette of a mitt.  It seemed to cover Mary's hand as she held the rabbit.  The shadow mitten had been formed by the wings of a stained glass butterfly in the window. The butterfly represents new birth, so I welcomed the message to stay in the Light.  We are Children of Light.

The white rabbit in Titian's painting had crossed my path while skimming through The Virgin in Art from Medieval to Modern, by Kyra Belan at our local Family bookstore.

I looked up the symbolism for the rabbit.  "It brings the message to look for fertile signs, and use the lunar cycle.  If unsure, wait.  Answers will become clear within a month.  Then movement is assured." (Animal-Speak, Ted Andrews)
The Virgin with the Rabbit by Titian, 1530

Enjoy your day with the Angels and stay open to their loving presence.

Joyful blessings,

Golden Caterpillar: An Angel Message

Yesterday, glowing in the sunshine, this fuzzy fellow was busily munching away when I happened to notice him. Caterpillars were a childhood favorite.  On the farm, I often shepherded them through a maze of narrow wood strips I made from grandmother's wood pile.

This bright sunny one brought a fond smile, as it has been a long time since I've seen a furry caterpillar.  And, I'd just sat down on a favorite park bench in a sanctuary to enjoy the beautiful cool weather.

Later, I learned that caterpillar brings a message: "Good luck and new birth are at hand.  Take a gentle and quiet approach to endeavors.  Be realistic and shed the old."

Enjoy your day with the Angels.  Be on the lookout for messages that speak to your heart.  And, think on the bright side.

Love and joyful blessings,

When Pigs Fly... An Angel Message

Last weekend, what a surprise to catch sight of a BIG PINK WINGED ANGEL PIG. Even better, it was a mailbox!  I laughed, "Mama!"  Her playful energy charged the air.   Since she passed on four years ago, a winged pig has become an angel messenger for me.  This pink pig angel, posted in a nearby neighborhood,  embodied the joy I receive by both sending and receiving international postcards randomly selected at postcrossing.com  Pink is the color of love, and love makes the world go round.

I was thankful for the reminder.  Thoughts are things...and what I focus on  will wing its way back into my field of consciousness.  So think on the bright side.

Enjoy your day and look to be spontaneous, following any sudden angelic inspirations.

Joyful blessings,

Rae Karen

A Surprise Rider Ready to Go: An Angel Message

Sometimes when I need to surrender and relax, and let God take the wheel, a little nature messenger will make an unusual appearance to give me a clue.  That's what happened last week when Elliot and I stopped in a nearby wooded community to consider a relocation.  This little lizard hopped aboard our car and stayed there as we looked around at a possible house.  Lizard brings a message to pay attention to dreams.  To detach from problems and do what you must.

As it turned out, we discovered it was best to stay put in the dream for now.

Enjoy your day with the Angels.  Have fun paying attention to the birds and animals that come across your path.

Love and joyful blessings,

Rae Karen
